All up in Copenhagen. This is a bike system design for the city! An open, “floating” system that allows the people using the bike system to ride a bike, park a bike, do what they came to do, whip out their map, find the closest bike, and ride that bike to their next location. This is the OPENbike system. Fully adjustable, full system in place to place the bikes where they’re needed.

If given a free hand and will, designer Maarten Timmer hopes to recreate bike-racing magic with an Electrical Powered Motorcycle! Don’t be so lofty and hear his plans out. This is what the VertiGO features: electric propulsion, low noise and emissions, a silent motor, high torque, very fast acceleration, maximum speed on the straights (100 to 150 km ride on a “battery pack”).

So you’ve got to go in and out of a bunch of places today, all around teh town, and you know you’re not gonna be able to find a bike rack every time. But you gotta bike! So whatcha gon do? You gon get you a folding bike – and since you’re way into the color orange and fantastically innovative folding bike design, you set your eyeballs square upon the prize: the “Zoomla!”

Any woman who gets to ride this beauty called Cannondale Dutchess, is gonna be wearing a broad grin on her face. A classy dame with sufficient innovations to make an impact, this cycle is more than what Daisy could have asked for! Speaking of innovations, here’s what it’s got: The rear fender acts is a structural part of the frame and allows the carrier to hold up to 50kgs of weight. An arch connects the bicycle from the handlebars to the tail light, enhancing the visual appeal of this traditional Old Dutch bicycle.

Somebody pass me a helmut and a time travel ship because if this is what Harley bikes look like in 10 years, I’m so there. Designer Miguel Cotto pays homage to the big road hogs by keeping the large 883cc engine, complete with high revs and roars. The similarities end there. The design is almost tron-like in execution. Check out the wheel hubs. They’re actually giant bearings. I do see glimpses of Harley DNA in the center chassis but seriously, can you image any road warriors riding this?

How would you re-define a bike? Tinker with it to get greater speed and performance? The curvy Hidemax Cycle is born out of the notion to enhance speed, functionality, looks, comfort, resistance and durability. In short it tries to address all major issues that bog a bicycle designer. Here’s what it’s got: adjustable height achieved by loosening the grip apparatus around the steering wheel. Instead of an up/down axis, the saddle of the bike can be adjusted to left/right through its 2 different joint points.

He-Man or not, pedaling up a steep slope can knock the wind out the healthiest of us all. That’s why we need hybrid bikes like the Wind-Solar Energy Bike. Bikes like this harness wind energy, solar energy, shock energy and muscle power, only to be used at those tough climbs or when you turn lazy! The spoiler of this bike is covered with solar panels and is fixed below the handles of the bike to produce lifting force for lightening the weight of the bike.

What’s got two bald tires, runs on electricity, and is red and black all over? ZEVS! An elegant futuristic electric motorbike by three fellows, one of whom we’ve had up on Yanko before: Bernhard Ranner. Look and see, see and judge weather this bike performs to your aesthetic and atta-glance logistics standards if you dare.

I told you there was this bike conspiracy going on amongst the designers, add the Furious Sports Bike to the list. Dishy in its current avatar; the bike boasts of an aerodynamic design coupled with user-friendly ergonomics. What I really like is the ample display nestled between the handlebars. You get details like the route-map, current bike gear, temperature, time and speed displayed on it. The seat however looks tad uncomfy for me.

Perhaps, but who am I to argue with designers. I get this uncanny feeling that there is a deluge of cycle concepts floating around, so if you get bombarded by one too many concepts, please bear with us. And what have we here; an urban cycle that can be toned down to save space when not in use. Why? Urbanites don’t have spacious homes, and those who do…they don’t need bikes, they use shiny cars. The design consists of 2 systems: Wheel folding system & Bike Structure System.

Samsung Freecycle is a good lesson in community living; a system that teaches sharing is caring…. In this system you got a base unit mounted on a cycle, a device that you carry with you and a generator; all hooked to each other wirelessly. A bike sharing service is implemented and the twist is that users themselves got to manage the effective working of it.

It’s called the “Kilobike” and it’s totally magical. You can tell em I told you so. It’s designed to “expand the identity and usage of today’s kids bikes.” Made for Seed, designers at Kilo Design made this a bike to remember. If you’re from a bike family, even if you were the only one in your family to own a bike, you remember having to upgrade to a big-kid bike. It was a sad day, but no more!

The biggest hugest tricycle in the whole world has been conceptualized by designer Randall Marin. It is a bit different from what you might think of as a tricycle; that being either the tiny red tricycle for children or the giant tri-motorcycle you see in parades most often. This is made for urban transport and exercise – with it’s main aim being gaining attention, motivating others to get exercise too.
