A Swell Rockin Lounger

A Swell Rockin Lounger

So you’ve got one big wooden plate, right? What are you gonna do with it? Make an ashtray? No. That’s a terrible idea. Instead, I’ve got basically the best idea. Actually it was Marietta Moraweg who had the idea, then totally designed it and had it executed. It’s got so many parallel cuts in it, you’re going to be lounging for basically forever. All summer long, anyway, I bet. And from where I’m posting, that’s kinda starting basically right now, it’s springtime. Time to rock.

Turn That Frown into a Seat

Turn That Frown into a Seat

Or more specifically, a small armchair. Designers at Sand & Birch Luxury Design have designed this lovely little thing by the name of “Smile.” S&B pride themselves in being known as designers who take a special amount of time and effort in choosing their shapes and materials so as to create not just seats, but sculptural furniture. With this Smile chair, they took a stab at clashing what they find great in both fullness and compact design. Smoothness, niceness, a big set of chompers.

Logs Are for Lovers

Logs Are for Lovers

Here! What have we got here! Why, it’s logs! Lovely, lovely logs, used rightfully simply as furniture for the home. In a brand new way, I must say. Keeping them basically rough in nature, adding just plug-ins of interior comfort for the cuteness. And they are so very cute when you’ve got them all set up nice! The key to this project is designer Ilan Dei Studio’s keywords – Urban Renewal. Wild.

Not a Mug, A Chair

Not a Mug, A Chair

I couldn’t stop thinking “Una-Mug” when I first saw this project. That’s not the name at all! It’s called “Umarmung,” and it’s basically a floor-level-chair. Sort of defeats the purpose, yes? No way! This project is inspired by the ancient tradition of floor-sitting culture in Japan. During research, the designers were surprised to find that the only similar product to theirs was the zaisu chair (legless chair) of the tatami room.

The Stool Connection

The Stool Connection

Quadratic much? At the intersection between two curves comes this stool right here. Not to be kicked around all too much! It’s called the “f(x) stool” it’s the interconnection. It’s the birch, the plywood, and the adjustability in mathematics. As the curves get further away from one another, the seat gets wider, but you might feel a bit more nervous, as the support reduces.

Sit On An Ostrich Or Something Like It

Sit On An Ostrich Or Something Like It

A finalist for the Most Beautiful Object in South Africa, the Ostrich Barstool defies conventional seating design for something whimsical and surprisingly comfortable. Inspired by a recent ride on an Ostrich, sounds fun! – the result is an upholstered seat with elegantly shaped steel legs based on an ostriches’ proportions. I want 3 of these NOW. I think they’re gorgeous and fun to look at.

The Whole Childhood Made of Wood

The Whole Childhood Made of Wood

What’s a good plate with nothing on it? No, what’s a bunch of good food without a plate? What’s a good baby without a single bed to sleep upon? How about when that baby gets a bit older, what happens then? Buy more furniture for them? Heck no! You take that crib you’ve got there and you transform it into a whole bunch of little person friendly bits of fun! Complete with another bed for that ever-elongating person.

Becoz I Like To Move My Sofa Around

Becoz I Like To Move My Sofa Around

Long before it became a fad to hire interior designers to do up your rooms, humble folks just rearranged their furniture to give their home a new look. Times and trends now dictate that either we use innovative stuff that never gets obsolete or keep hiring the cash-drain! Fitting into the former category is the EQUALIZE Multifunctional Furniture Modules; a set of three pieces that can be configured in your free-fancy way. Create sofa, couch, folding table, flower or fruit vase!

Swinging The Other Way

Swinging The Other Way

Most of the time you’re nudging your co-bench partner to give you more seat space. So essentially sitting on benches really sucks. Generally they’re hard slabs of wood or concrete and do nothing much for your posterior or fun! This is the reason why we need more of the Swing Together Bench; I don’t need to say much…just have a look at the video and you’ll get the full picture. Google Offices can do with this swing!

Sit On The Canadian Flag

Sit On The Canadian Flag

To celebrate the 2010 Winter Games, Ligne Roset and Livingspace collabed (not a real word but using it anyways) on the “Ottoman”. Well that’s a straight forward name. If you look real close, the two-toned 100% wool piece has contrast stitching highlighting the familiar maple leaf. Yay Canada!

Is it One Chair, or is it More?

Is it One Chair, or is it More?

There is more! But there is also one. It is like a spore. A good spore! As the designer Jie-Jyun Lyu says, those who live in a small apartment like to have few pieces of furniture. But when too many people come over, you’ve gotta have more! So you need an amazing chair device such as this, one that’s both a single chair, but a bunch of shoot-off chairs that work just as nicely as the original. But with less bumps.

Chairs from Space

Chairs from Space

Welcome to chairs… in… space! This bit of furniture is called “Invasion Chair” and it’s designed by none other than Jean-Jacques Jungers for MT4 Architects. It’s from space. It’s meant to investigate the limits between “abstraction, figuration, and functionality.” For the greatness of Surrealism. Colorful, changeable cushions, two different sizes (child and adult), and an alien physique make for a rather dream-invading seat.
