Pack of Dogs – Bookshelf by Nel Studio

Introduced at the 2007 Salone Satelite in Milan, these pieces are based roughly on the shape of a dog, in different sizes and positions. These characters, named after famous Mexican wrestlers (Dos caras Jr, Aguayo, Superastro, El Santo, Alushe and Mistico) follow you around your house or office, and may work as a side table, stool, bench, bookshelf, magazine rack, newspaper holder, bookends, etc.

Glo Pillow - Gently Wakes You In 40 Minutes by Eoin McNally & Ian Walton

Glo Pillow – Gently Wakes You In 40 Minutes by Eoin McNally & Ian Walton

This project aims to design a better and more natural way of being woken than the alarm clock, which is a very violent and intrusive method that disrupts sleep patterns and can induce a ‘fight or flight’ reaction. The ‘glo pillow’ uses an integrated fabric interface for setting the alarm. The time is displayed on the surface of the pillow using an LED grid inside the pillow.

Soundwave Graph Chair by Matthew Plummer Fernandez

Soundwave Graph Chair by Matthew Plummer Fernandez

Sound/Chair begins as a sound that is precisely crafted to form the shape of a chair when visualized as a 3-dimensional object using a volume, time, frequency plot. The prototype chair is an exact replica of the soundwave graph. The result is a product with dual existence as both a sound and a chair, and a new approach to designing products.

Sintesi Period Table by Brad Ascalon

Sintesi Period Table by Brad Ascalon

An iron sheet that reproduces the shape of the legs of antique tables gives this small coffee table a particular character that recalls the retro style a bit and re-interprets it making it more contemporary and attractive. The sheet metal that reproduces only the outlines of the leg and leaves the internal part empty gives this table and unusual lightness.

Sawaya Vortexx Chandelier by Zaha Hadid

Sawaya Vortexx Chandelier by Zaha Hadid

The design language explored in the Vortex is in line with a series of furniture pieces realized in collaboration with Sawaya & Moroni. Fluidity and seamlessness are conceptual terms that best describe the appearance of this 1.8m wide and 0.8m high chandelier. Its complex curvilinearity follows a double helix connecting its beginning to its end and therefore forming an endless ribbon of light.
