I know how enthusiastic most of our readers are about cooking, so this round-up should have been my top priority. Better late than never, they say. So here’s a list of Ten Innovative and Creative Kitchen Concepts seen on YD. Some may beg to differ, but that’s ok, we are all allowed to have our opinions. Point is, we all love to cook in a classy, futuristic kitchen!

10) Kitchen Drawer by Nojae Park

Compact and all-inclusive with a fridge; I can see this kind of kitchens being sold in the future, touted as height of modularity! There are four main parts to this set: a stainless plate for warming up food, an electric stove for cooking, a dish drawer for storage, and a mini-fridge.

9) Aion by Antoin Lebrun

You have to hand it out to designers for trying to incorporate the “Green” element into their designs. For instance, this kitchen features specialized plants that were developed by the aerospace industry for their filtering and cleaning properties. If it has to be Green, then it may as well be the Aion.

8 ) Transportable Kitchenette by Aurelien Banerjee & Olivier Picard

This kitchenette was designer for outdoor usage by charitable organizations who do a lot of field works and require nourishing their charges. A simple electric socket is all this needs to get it going.

7) Mood Kitchen by Scavolini

Who doesn’t like a chic sophisticated kitchen, with oodles of space and charm!

6) Lift Modular Kitchen by Michel Cornu

Lift is a kitchen concept that has truly captured the essence of the word modular. It’s tough to explain this in words, which is why I am showing you all the images for it here. It’s a kitchen with several modules mounted on the wall, and can slide up and down, as per usage.

5) L’Evoluzione by Giancarlo Vegni for Effeti

Another chic kitchen with the essentials neatly tucked into drawers and special nooks. Something that we always dream of having, but alas, always out of reach.

4) All In One Kitchen by Sebastien Poupeau

The mother-of-all Single platform kitchens! One slab and that’s it….you don’t need anything else to call it your cooking space. It houses a main work top, which is height-adjustable, food cutting area, digital screen, dining table, induction hobs and an oven, a sink and its drying rack, dishwasher with two separated racks! What more could you want.

3) Outpost Kitchen by Simon Kingston & James Rennick

Sized as filing cabinet with extendable surfaces, this is the ultimate in modular kitchen. It may lack in glam-quotient; but for all practical purposes, this is a fully functional cook-spot that can operate anywhere…office, home, backyard….anywhere!

2) Grandma’s Kitchen by Melanie Olle & Ilja Oelschlägel

A series of latches and slides helps you to transform this wall unit from a kitchen to a dining table and back. An interesting way of going from cook-mode to dining-mode in a jiffy.

1) Multifunctional Kitchen by Wiwat Pitakpongsanit

Another single-slab module kitchen, but the difference is that you can customize it as per your needs. This versatile space can be reconfigured; depending upon what you want where. Totally Awesome!

Remember that post I did just the other day? The one about the metal pants. Well there’s more! There’s a whole range! It’s called the “Dual Range” and it aims to take your home to a new level of simplicity and versatility. Explore with me, if you will, six new concepts that do one of my favorite things: cram two things into one.

First, the “Notch” – you already know a little bit about this from the post we had before. It’s a side table and stool with a handy little notch in the middle to hold your book open.

Second, “Notch+,” what the! It’s just basically a smaller, more square version of the Notch, right? Well check it out- the squareness of this situation increases the stackability tenfold!

Third, the “Lean” – a board with lots of notches in it. Each notch is able to hold a whole lot of material, especially made-for-hanging clothing.

Fourth, the “Lean MIRROR.” This is the one I’d want most. Only thing is, I wouldn’t hang a belt on there for fear of scratching the surface with the metal buckle.

Fifth, the “Myriad.” This is a magnetic messageboard, whiteboard for writing, shelf, and hanger system. What else could possibly be crammed!?

Sixth and last is the “Dual Clock” which is such a simply good idea I cannot believe it hasn’t been thought of before. It’s a clock. It’s a messageboard. Write on it, erase it, love it.

Are those plates to be eating off of? Nay!* They are vent covers. Retractable vent covers. Customizable vent covers. I bet you’re saying to yourself “self, I’ve always wanted to customize my vent covers, and self, this is my big opportunity.” And you’d be right. Available in like 5 billion colors and designs, this is the Ventware system.

With the Ventware “Seasons of Change” system, you’ve got both the best in retractable kitchen vent systems AND “a whole new paradigm for kitchen appliances – unparalleled customizability.”

This system is made of a ceramic faceplate and removable filter behind the vent. Cleanable in the dishwasher, switchable for every season.

*If you really wanted to eat off these, I bet you could. By all means, if they’re clean, use them. One of my favorite things to drink water out of is a mason jar. It just tastes better. Who am I to say you wouldn’t get a kick out of eating liverwurst off of the vent cover? Just do it.

Coral is this elegant pan that you can use for cooking and serving, but unlike the rest of the gang, this one comes coated with thermochromic spots. The pale blue dots turn into bright orange beauties, as the temperature of the pot increases. The handles on the pan comes off easily, thanks to the plug-spring system used. This ways you get to cook safely and efficiently and then slide off the pan-handle and serve right away!

“People recognize the kitchen as the soul of the house, from the pans, pots and casseroles the aromas and unique flavors will give a hint of its host. It is the beginning of a meeting or a party or a simple family warmth.”

We’re in an age of utter simplicity. This is what is good, this is what is right in design. Design something that works and something that is bare down to the bones, and you’ve got something beautiful. Design a simple and functional water pipe, and you’ve got a real winner! This horizontal Middle Eastern water pipe is the first product in the “White” series of simplicity by TRIBUDESIGN. Such a lovely aesthetic!

In a product that’s normally stored away and aside is a new standard, one that fits in with the rest of the kitchenware. In this pipe is stainless steel, hand stitched leather, and natural acrylic stone.

This “White” series of products is done in order to both innovate and preserve. This pipe is made with acrylic stone and stainless steel to make it more hygienic, making is considerably less dangerous to the users health due to the subtraction of the materials traditionally used.

20 months of development, a set of customized tools and molds later, and we’ve got the most modern water pipe in the world: water pipe “A.”

In white.

To be distributed by Airdiem.

Let me channel my best Shamwow Guy impression and convince you these items are worth their salt. The Easy Food Dicer, Lemon Slicer and Robot Penguins have a tiny bit of Alessi in them but there’s something modernly sophisticated to them too.

I’m not one for overly complicated kitchen accessories but the Easy Food Dicer looks much easier to use than many products in the market. I guess that’s how they arrived at the name. There’s something satisfying about guiding that potato to a slow death into perfectly cut cubes. Mmm fry me up some of that!

I’ll pass on the Lemon Slicer. Seriously people need a lemon slicer? The Robot Penguins are a win tho. They’re not so much robots as they are toy shakers that roll across the table after you give the wheels a couple good cranks. Pass the salt please! I think Designer Cosso should send me the whole set.

If you have a full house, there are less chances of anything staying for long in the fridge. Meaning it will get consumed sooner or later. But if you’re on your own or are the sorts who don’t raid the fridge often, you can very well expect some of the contents to expire before consumed fully. Fresholling here is a handy gadget that you attach to your milk carton or opened bottle of juices, and set the expiry date on them. Like an alarm clock, it ticks off at the end of the set date, ensuring you don’t consume spoiled goodies. You can set time up to a week, but do you really stock old stale stuff? Hmm….maybe I should come and raid your fridge for a change.

As the winter sets in, more of us are going to be downing the liquid gold, just to keep out the chills. Coffee! A warm mug to curl your hands around, just as you watch the first snowflakes hit the ground. Here are Ten ways to get your fix; machines, coffee sets and kettles. I like mine instant coffee with milk and strong; how about you?

10) Birch-wood Coffee Set by Andrea Branzi

Kicking off this countdown is an elegant silver and birch-wood coffee set designed by Andrea Branzi. Made from silver dipped in acid to get the rustic look, the set is quite a collector’s item.

9) Muji Non-directional Coffee Maker by Kazushige Miyake

I don’t get what a “Non-directional Coffee Maker” is, but I’m willing to hear your opinion on it.

8 ) Kahva by Lina Fischer

Technically Kavha is the Kashmiri way of preparing tea, with saffron and cardamom; so it quite surprises me that a coffee maker has been christened thus. Any ways the Kahva is a beautiful way to brew your coffee.

7) The Barista by Patrik Pettersson

Perfect solution for multiple coffee addicts in an office, this machine dispenses many cups of coffee at one go.

6) Coffee Maker by Tom Metcalfe

This one’s for the serious brewers who go to any lengths for their cuppa java! I love the video in this post, do re-visit and check it out.

5) Cocoon by Jan König

Made of twin-spherical bowls, in the Cacoon, the water is heated via induction in the outer sphere and a pump in the handhold transports the warm water to the filter and finally the ready coffee drips into the inner sphere. The resulting cavity (where the water was before) between the both spheres, now serves as a natural insulator and keeps the coffee warm.

4) Nespresso by Jeremy Myrier

A service tray that doubles up as coffee warmers! I can pictures us warming our hands over it!

3) Enjoy It While Flying by Balazs Millete & Telekes Tamas

Enjoy It While Flying is a concept brewer of Nespresso that is to be enjoyed abord your private aircraft, as you jetset from one glam destination to another. Strictly for those with the moola; Plebs please endure the airline trash you get.

2) Pearl by Andreas Diefenbach

This Ceramic Coffee machine is refined with a gilded touch, and is quite an exquisite creation.

1) Untitled by Brice Genre Hanika Perez

Thanks to its thermo-sensitivity, artistic patterns appear on the surface of this coffee machine when hot water runs through it. Almost like have an art piece hanging up on the wall.

So you’re driving along in your electric car, right? And you’re thinking gosh, now that I have this Hybrid or whatever I am driving today, I feel like I should go another step. How can I generate more power? How? I need to not only generate enough energy for me to drive, I need to generate power for the buildings I’m driving past. “Carbon Zero” road block system has the answer for you!

So what have we got here? Positive and negative. Energy, not consequences. It’s all good, it’s all green.

This system is composed of several elements. The only one you’re going to see is the blocks on the road. As you drive over these blocks, the pressure from your vehicle pushes the blocks down, creating kinetic energy. N-type silicon and P-type silicone work together like a battery, creating a DC-direct current. This energy is then turned into AC-alternating current, which can be used for powering electric devices in the homes and businesses near the road.

Makes sense? Yes. Let’s see it work now.
