Created by Young-Min Kim, Hyeon-Jeong Woo & Kyung-Goo Lee to promote healthy bike use in areas that don’t normally tend to bike users (especially in the way of bike protectors, information kiosks, and rest seats!) Spring is here, time to bike! P+ bike system for safe keeping!

It took me my son’s science project on recycling to realize that we can really do something constructive out of the waste we generate from our kitchen. Before you turn up your noses and crank about the “Rotting Veggie Odors + Recycling”, let me explain the pros of the Terraviva Domestic Composter. This is a device that sits neatly on your counter top, as stylish as any other appliance that you own. It simply makes a mish-mash of all the veggie waste into something palatable for the plants.

You remember that photosynthesis lesson you bunked in school? That was way long back in time, but folks at D’arc Studio revisited that period and decided to haunt you with that chapter (pun totally intended!) The Sinthesya is an indoor/outdoor light that looks like it’s out of a sci-fi movie set and draws inspiration from nature’s food-factory. Solar power is the name of the game, but just in case of an emergency, an electrical plug has been included.

My mentor educated me that a good design also contributes toward a stable environment and does take into account its implications toward pollution and emissions. I call the Light Flower a good design, because it follows this norm to the T. If you must light your garden pathway, it may as well be with this illuminating flower. Autonomous and sensitive, it harnesses wind energy effectively to power itself.

I know many of you don’t take very kindly to ideas that proclaim to be GREEN, but lets give this Blister Radio a chance to explain itself. Replacing the usual injection-molded casing with vacuum-formed packaging components, this little fella’ is made from PLA. For the uninitiated, PLA is biodegradable, thermoplastic, aliphatic polyester got from renewable resources like cornstarch and sugarcane.

Warning Bulb enables you to visually check your electricity usage. It’s well known greenhouse gases source most of its CO2 from power plants. The generated electricity is not always put to efficient use. 11% of the power is wasted through plugged in idle appliances. The idea behind Warning Bulb is to prevent wasted energy by showing you how much money you’re spending and how fast.

If you’ve ever felt the urge to attach a fender to your bike just so you can wrap it in environmentally-aware bumper stickers, then you might like the Green Shadow. Developed by Mr. Onuff Studio for a video game, the bicycle still stands as an interesting study in form and function, presumably tracking mileage, heat rate and calories through the handle-bar mounted LCD. While only intended as illustrative work and not for actual production, I can only imagine a real version would incorporate fresh ivory, baby seals or endangered pandas to help snag that valuable pro-earth, anti-animal demographic.

It’s always an educational experience to see what’s in store for us as far eco-friendly products go. Joining the green brigade is this Timeless Garden that looks at bringing in a green patch and clock to match your décor. Using the chemistry between mud and metal, the clock sustains itself, without craving additional toxic juices. The frame is a hitch between by two recycled plastic bodies fashioned as a pot/clock.

Everyone talks about going green, consuming less, conserving and recycling. But for heavens sake will, SOMEONE tell me just how do I go about knowing which room is consuming extra energy? If in a community, how do we get to keep tabs and monitor the consumption of all the houses? The answer is quite simple actually; get someone to manufacture what Rocco has conceptualized. O.e.i is an OLED touch screen light switch that represents all your misgivings.

Word is on the streets that people be lovin the do-it-yourself kinds of stuff. Straight up. This the chair for you. It’s a glider. It ships flat. Produced of recyclable materials. Polypropylene molded sides, synthetic fabric, pvc tubing. Chair or bench. Stay positive with negative space in mind. It’s called “Empower” because yes, the power is indeed yours.

We all know that we are screwing the environment with the enormous carbon footprint that we leave behind, so its time we take charge and come up with practical solutions to tidy up the mess. On the sustainable side we have been harnessing Solar Power for a while, but existing solar panels on roofs have their own set worries like professional installation and structural issues. The Solar Tree offers a realistic solution to structural woes and more.

Hydroponic Greenhouse. Turns air we breath out into air we can breath in. Uses solar-powered turbines to pump this air. Converts (biodegradable) human waste into food for plants. Plants are edible by humans. Greenhouse creates condensation which is collected for aquarium-dwelling animals, also edible by humans and hamsters.

I don’t think anyone can argue that eventually, if humans don’t get green active, the earth is going to get used up. But true to form, humans don’t really give much of a hoot about such things. What Addi Design Group wants to say is: you should feel this pull physically, every single day. (Or at least every day you need a fan.) With “Our Biggest Fan” who’s head, when not in use, droops down like a wilted flower. Sad, huh?
