8 Cups? No Problem

8 Cups? No Problem

I’m always amazed at the dexterity some servers are gifted with; 2 plates of food and 8 cups of drinks all delivered without a hitch. I can barely get out the door with 3 cups of coffee so I usually force a co-worker to come with me. Pick-Cups have uniquely designed handles that make them easy to hold 4 in each hand. Just slip a finger into each slot and like a boiling ball pinch to keep them all snug for transport.

Wanna Eat Food off my Naked Body?

Wanna Eat Food off my Naked Body?

Bodylicious is inspired by Nyotaimori, a rather controversial Japanese tradition which consists of presenting Sushi on a naked woman, using her body as a tray. This was a highly appreciated act often experienced at luxurious parties and other social events. Conversely, when presenting Sushi (Sashimi) on the naked body of a man, it’s called Nantaimori. I’m not a huge fan of eating raw fish and I honestly can’t say eating it off a naked person is going to change that. Meh, to each his own.

My Cutlery is More High Tech Than Yours

My Cutlery is More High Tech Than Yours

The IC3 concept consists of a computerized shaft with 3 interchangeable eating apparatuses; fork, spoon, and knife. The fork analyzes composition such as fat, protein, sugars. The spoon measures weight, and the knife takes temperature readings. Together this info creates a detailed report on what you’re eating, helpful to those with diabetes and nutritional sufficiencies. Gone are the days of lying to your doctor, “yes I ate my 5 servings of veggies.” The IC3 concept is currently on display at the Designparcours Munich 2008 exhibition.

I Got a Knuckle Duster For Ya

I Got a Knuckle Duster For Ya

For serious tho, isn’t this the sweetest mug you’ve ever seen?!?! It’s aptly called MUG! by the lads at Thabto. I saw a picture of it somewhere and tracked down the company for a review. They graciously sent me one and I’ve been drinking knuckle duster teas and staring daggers at everyone in my office. Thankfully people find it amusing and it’s become quite the conversation piece.

Be The Ultimate Party Multi-Tasker

Be The Ultimate Party Multi-Tasker

Most of us have been to parties and enjoyed the conversation, atmosphere and most of all the cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Yet the difficulty in trying to be social while carrying a plate of food and a glass of wine in your hand is quite difficult and sometimes next to impossible. Ken Goldman’s design, Fingerfood is the answer to those who are not naturally born multi-taskers.

Tea is Drunk to Forget the Din of the World

Tea is Drunk to Forget the Din of the World

I’ll have what the swan is having. Adam Hammerman presents a strangely elegant take on England’s favorite bit of kitchenware, the teapot. It would be a strange feeling drinking from the mouth of this beautiful animal, but in-between tips we’ve got a wonderful work of art to lay the eyes upon in Tea Time bliss.

Appreciate Water

Appreciate Water

Many of us take water for granted. It’s difficult to appreciate something when in its purest form has no color, odor, or shape. Designer Hyun Ko promotes awareness and the significance of water by giving us a sweet juicy drink called Blooming Water. When your straw pierces a thin barrier holding the colored juice concentrate, it spills into the water forming clouds of color. For a brief moment, what looks still is actually always moving. Appreciate it.

Welcome to the Wine, Wine West

Welcome to the Wine, Wine West

Like the designer, I’m sure, I’ve broken my share of wine glasses, and I don’t even really like wine! I usually put whiskey and coke in there, then I don’t find the whole glass until spring cleaning. For the wine enthusiast (or drunk) with short shelves or clumsy tendencies, it’s untrained designer Sherwood Forlee to the rescue!
