A Flower To Test The Waters

A Flower To Test The Waters

A nice warm bath is soothing to the soul. It helps to un-wind after a long stressful day and to just relax and forget about everything for a time. The flower plug was designed to allow the user to know when the bath water was just the right temperature by changing color from a light pink to a beautiful deep purple color. Once the flower is purple, it is safe to enter the water without the fear of it being too hot.

Shower Sticker

Shower Sticker

You’ve seen it, those showers with 10 sprayers designed to hit every nook and cranny of your body. Unfortunately we all can’t have that and I’m sure my landlord would go ape if I gutted the bathroom. An alternative is the Shower Sticker designed by Sun-ah Sin. It’s made from a rubbery material that’ll stick to any surface. Just slip your shower hose thru and move it anywhere you like.

Matrix Bathrobe

Matrix Bathrobe

For its creation, designer Lens uses an enormous expanse of material. The pattern is based on the movement of dancing Dervishes, or the fighting matrix: when you pirouette you get the same effect. The collar is one large, rolled-up bath towel. The belt is attached so that there is no chance of misplacing it. Everything is a little oversized, even the sleeves, which you can double back completely. The result is a dashing, hussar-like appearance.

L-shaped Hairdryer

L-shaped Hairdryer

Hairdryers are rarely the focus of much excitement, let alone creativity, when it comes to design, which is strange really, considering what a vital piece of equipment it is in most women’s (and a lot of men’s) armoury. But this might be about to change, thanks to Italian designers deepdesign who have developed a very handsome prototype for a dryer called ‘Winds’.

Prototype Of Universal Toilet Made

Prototype Of Universal Toilet Made

The Universal Toilet is a flexible toilet design useable by both individuals with disabilities and the general population that removes the social stigma of handicapped facilities. For users with disabilities, even a dedicated handicapped toilet requires maneuvering, especially when in a wheelchair. With the Universal Toilet users don’t need to turn or twist but can simply slide forward off the wheelchair directly onto the toilet.

Connected Bathroom The Bathroom As A Space For Living

Connected Bathroom The Bathroom As A Space For Living

At the beginning of the 20th century, baths were only small functional bathing areas, but today they are highly valued, and they affect how we design our living space. Different activities in the bathing area require different levels of privacy. The connected bathroom is divided into four zones: bathtub, sink with mirror, shower and toilet.

Take Away Sink Saves Water & Space

Take Away Sink Saves Water & Space

In domestic environments buckets are used in endless ways – whether it is for cleaning purposes, washing your feet, cooling beer or carrying something. With the “Take-Away Sink” there is no need for an extra bucket that has to be stored and that is often too big for filling it conveniently in an ordinary kitchen sink.

Supercompact Bathroom

Supercompact Bathroom

A friend of mine just moved to Sweden and showed me potential apartments in the downtown area. I was shocked to see how tiny the bathrooms are. It didn’t have a tub and the toilet actually sat in the shower. Next to that you had the small vanity and a towel rack. The Flight Concept by Isabelle Hauser could be the answer for such small tight spaces.

Waterless Urinal Also Eliminates Splashing

Waterless Urinal Also Eliminates Splashing

Kohler Steward waterless urinals offer a fresh new design aesthetic while also conserving water resources. The Steward is cartridge-free and utilizes a sealing liquid in the trapway that allows urine to pass through. Once the liquid waste has passed through, the less dense sealing liquid maintains its position at the top of the trapway, thus providing an impermeable barrier that blocks odors.

A Very Musical Shower

A Very Musical Shower

If you like listening to tunes while showering, then you probably have a shower radio or stereo in your bathroom. But why not kill two birds with one stone. What if your shower head were a stereo also? I mean the little holes already look like a speaker grill.

Sucker by Jan Hoekstra & Leon Ramakers

The Sucker solves the problem of having to drill holes in tiles, glass or any other smooth surface. The aesthetics of its design lies in its simplicity and the experience of attaching it to the wall: it literally sucks itself into the surface.

And Then The Water Flowed

The number of innovations in bathroom fixtures these past few years have been staggering. Temperature adjustment, filtration, and new materials are just a few that come to mind.

Inspired by Omvivo Linea Glass wash plane, Kai Tan designed a faucet fixture that would complement the minimalist design she calls Tapware.
