Creative Tea Drinking

Creative Tea Drinking

Tea drinking and brewing is an art form often patronized on YD. Adding to our growing list is this delightful Turtle Tea Kettle. The kettle doesn’t discriminate against loose-leaf, teabags and compressed-tea, tea drinkers’ coz its comfy enough brewing any of these sorts. The added advantage of a separate glass container for the loose tealeaves makes sure you don’t get any debris while sipping your drink. If the creative-cook gets the better of you; heck you can even use the kettle to brew up some exotic hot beverage and treat yourself!

Air-dry Dishes

Air-dry Dishes

We recently discussed how Ultra Violet can be a great way of sterilizing kitchen cutting boards and now it’s time to discuss its benefits in a dishwasher. UV plays a key role in the Electrolux Wind Washer Dishwasher, which comprises of a three-step procedure. In step one, it uses a stream of high-pressure air to blow away all the leftover food crumbs on the dishes, to a waste holding bay. In step two, it steams them to degrease them. In the final stage, it uses UV to sterilize them.

Flashback Fridays: Panasonic MC 1000

Before the mid-1950s, vacuum cleaners weren’t in many Japanese homes because dusters, brooms, and floor cloths were considered adequate for cleaning traditional Japanese homes. But through extensive marketing efforts by manufacturers, Japanese-made vacuum cleaners gradually became household necessities by the 1960s – with the MC-1000 top of the list.

Cooking Is All About The Flavors

Cooking Is All About The Flavors

Sous-vide is a method of cooking that retains the strong flavors of the ingredients by heating them for an extended period of time at relatively low temperatures. The flip side is that it needs to be performed under carefully controlled conditions to avoid botulism poisoning. Here is a look at a sophisticated iteration of this cooker that promises to maintain the intense flavors and cook some very tender meat.

Are You Up For Some Molecular Cooking?

Are You Up For Some Molecular Cooking?

I know that Molecular gastronomy is a scientific discipline involving the study of physical and chemical processes that occur in cooking, but this is the first time I’m coming across a device that actually allows you to do some Molecular Cooking! Consisting of a whip syphon, vaporizer and blow torch the “Moleculars” is something that would make an adventurous cook pretty happy in the kitchen. Experimentation would be the name of the game.

Work It, Make It, Do It, Decaf

Work It, Make It, Do It, Decaf

The Nilko “IMO” concept coffee maker by Alisson Wilson Ströher is an arm wrestling robot. Or, if that were a feature, it would be complete. As it stands, it’s compact (folds small,) folds out to many heights for tall or short containers, and holds enough water for lots of coffee. The water reservoir brews three average-sized packets of coffee. Simple, nice, orangy!

Do You Know To Coffee Pot?

Do You Know To Coffee Pot?

Have you ever played the game Coffee Pot? Well it goes like this; you’re supposed to substitute a verb for the word Coffee Pot and your friends try and guess the word by asking questions related to the action. For example “I’m Coffee Potting Now!” (WRITING!) With no relation to this game, let me tell you about this ecological coffee machine called Cocoon. It is an insulated hollow pot that conserves the heat for a longer time, thereby reducing the need to re-heat coffee often.

Freeze it Until There's a Cure

Freeze it Until There’s a Cure

Don’t trick yourself! There’s no cure for smelly food. This pail right here thinks it is hot stuff. It’s called the “Minus” and it’s basically cold hearted. Open the lid, place the banana peels inside, close, click shut, set temp, and press go. Coldness. Do not drop your pop cans in here unless they are all the way empty. Also probably not a good place for dead animals.

I’m A Little Tea Pot…

I’m A Little Tea Pot…

…Short and stout, This is my handle and This is my spout. When the tea is ready the thermochromic technology comes into play. Watch me blush and change my colors all the way! A badass attempt at poetry, but anyways the point is, the Creativi*tea Kettle is an effort to hype up the mundane chore of making tea and adding color to the kettle by including the temperature-sensitive aspect to it. Cold = darker shade of red; Hot = increasingly luminescent red.

Mini Kitchen That LT Would Love!

Mini Kitchen That LT Would Love!

LT and I have many things in common, we both are here at YD; we share the same star sign; both are vegetarians and share the same passion for cooking. I wonder what his views (and of course you YDers) will be on this Electrolux Personal Mini Kitchen. Personally, I really like the concept but I have a large family and this one’s a small, one-unit thing that caters to individuals or couples at the most. The compact kitchen is a marriage of both cooling and heating elements coz it features a pull-out silicon cooking mat and chill boxes.

Cuppa Chai On The Go

Cuppa Chai On The Go

Typical Indian housewives are an addicted lot; they are addicted to their daily cup of chai (tea)! As the clock strikes four in the afternoon, every household gears up for that addictive brew and woe beholds that woman who misses her tea! I have actually seen my numerous aunts and mom go through stages of depression, headaches and withdrawal symptoms coz they missed tea thanks to an afternoon spree in the bazaar. Tea in the Sahara for Two sang Sting, I demand Tea4Two in the middle of Chandni Chowk!

Teeny-Tiny Dishwasher

Teeny-Tiny Dishwasher

From the size of it I know most people will go, “Tch, tch that’s a really small dishwasher!” But sweets this one’s for the double-income-no-children types and singles. That’s how specific designing is getting these days, and me being from the old school of thought of big happy families is finding it hard to digest! The sleek looking Gota is small enough to fit on the kitchen platform and has an eco-sense as well. Its one of those niche things that couples will like to show off about.

Jeeze Frank, that is a Nice Kitchen Hood!

Jeeze Frank, that is a Nice Kitchen Hood!

Robert Brunner of Ammunition Group steps up with a mince-no-words collection of kitchen hoods. You know the kind: big, ugly, yellow. Or at least they’re that way if you’re living in a house whose kitchen hasn’t been updated in the past 10 years. Get minimal! Get something from the “Arc Collection.” The colors and designs range seven main categories, but they’re all 36 inches wide, suck smoke, and shine light.
