Orbital Timepiece

Orbital Timepiece

Moon Crater draws inspiration from its namesake with elevated gold numerals 3, 7, and 11 sitting atop raised platforms within a recessed case. The minute and hour hands move across the dial, perfectly encircling the raised numerals as they orbit the center. In black leather and steel, it’s a unique design that either sex will appreciate.

A Very James Bond Jacket

A Very James Bond Jacket

Have you ever ruined a movie, an interview, or maybe even a sexy date because you forgot to turn your phone off? If so, then you’ll appreciate this clever design called the Escape Jacket by Victor Johansson! The inner lining applies the interference principles of a Faradays cage to effectively block all radio frequencies, disabling the antenna so the phone doesn’t go off while simultaneously saving the battery. Just slide it in the inner pocket and fuggeddaboudit!

DO WANT iPhone 5 But What About Cases?

DO WANT iPhone 5 But What About Cases?

One of our favorite accessories maker Mujjo just announced the iPhone 5 sleeves and wallets. They’re based on the same design characteristics of the Originals collections that we so lovingly praised a few weeks ago. Worried about fit? Don’t because those genius Dutchies have been walking around with a dummy demo unit for awhile so these products are true to fit. Want one? We’re giving two away. Just leave a comment! Ends Sept 13.

UPDATE: Big thanks to Mujjo. The two winners are Chris and Richard. I’ve emailed you for info.

Believe It or Not, It's a Watch

Believe It or Not, It’s a Watch

Named and shaped after the constellation Cassiopeia, this artistic watch design uses a series of zig-zagged multicolored LEDs for a surprising yet intuitive way of displaying time. To tell the time, simply count up the lights for each digit. Purple light designates double digit hours, blue designates single digit hours, and pink/red represent minutes in single and double digits respectively. Better work on your math skills if you want to sport this one!

Four Dimensions of Time

Four Dimensions of Time

The latest in a trend of automotive-inspired timepieces, the Quad concept takes from the design language of the detailed headlamps found in the new Porsche Panamera. Time telling is divided into 4 orbs that each display an isolated subset of time in days, hours, minutes and seconds. With an aesthetic that aims for the sporty side of the luxury-watch market, the Quad hits the mark.

Redline

Redline

The trend of automotive-inspired watches has existed for a while, but the Redline concept by Kornwit D is one of my all-time favorites. It’s immediately obvious that the face and bezel are directly inspired by the car tachometer, but the blue, yellow and red color scheme do more than remind us of revving engines. Its aesthetic has a sort of Mondrian neoplastic feel that cleverly draws awareness to each passing hour with intensifying color.

Way Sexier than a Hearing Aid

Way Sexier than a Hearing Aid

In an extraordinary fusing of textiles and robotics, the Flutter functional garment was design to aid individuals with hearing impairments “feel” the sounds of the world around them. Within the cotton and polyester dress lies an inner framework of microphones and vibrating leaflets that detect the direction of sound. Leaflets nearest the sound are triggered to flutter in that direction, giving the wearer an alternative sensory awareness of their surroundings.

Jump From Paper Bags Are For Real

Jump From Paper Bags Are For Real

Yes they’re for real. How do I know? I’ve seen them in person. Jump From Paper bags just released several new products and STILL I have a hard time believe they exist. I mean that in the tangible sense because every photo looks like a doctored up shot. That’s part of the charm. It’s like your touching a cartoon every time you reach for your bag. In fact, wouldn’t be cool if have the world were a cartoon we could interact with? Cool World much?

The Modern Man's Pocket Watch

The Modern Man’s Pocket Watch

The Meanwhile timepiece collection combines the traditional characteristics of pocket watches dating back as far as the 16th century with modern minimalism in a series of designs that are as bare as they are beautiful. Like the original designs, these watches lack a minute hand and are secured by leather straps but differ from their overly decorated, chained ancestors in their simplicity and mixture of modern materials like polished steel and concrete with traditional brass.

Nike Trois

Nike Trois

The Nike Trois collection of concept triathlon gear aims to streamline the process of changing from running shoe to biking shoe to cut down on course times. Both shoes were designed with a smart lace-and-strap system that can be set and tightened to the competitor’s preference before they put them on, so that when they arrive they can be slipped on quickly without adjustment. The trio of speed-suit, bike shoe and running shoe are aesthetically cohesive and fit snuggly into a matching compartmentalized backpack.
