Carrying a purse or bag while riding a bicycle has been restrictive thus far. What I mean is that either you end up carrying a backpack or have those geeky baskets in front of the handlebars. Revolutionizing the way we carry our stuff is this absolutely fashionable set, simply called the Handlebar Bag & Bike Rack Bag. What I love is the way it hooks onto the bike, and then simply comes off as an elegant bag; loops, extra straps, and attachment clips detach and can be hidden.

Mine smells like a cat, and sneezing. It’s kind of like a survival course. But for Vivian Chun-Yen Wang as a design student, it’s the school’s natural odor, of course! Her project here deals with the olfactory portion of everyday working in a non-culinary environment. Why non-culinary? Because they’re basically the only ones that already have their smells mastered!

What this project consists of is a nice wooden box and five vials of smell. Fragrances. Each one “smells like” something from the school for which they were made, HDK. Three are made of scents extracted from materials found in HDK, while the other 2 were inspired by the atmosphere in the school.

Stink or no stink?

Smells good!

Special thanks to: Åke Nilsson and Demeter Fragrance Library

The Open-Me is a fancy crystal ring that doubles up as a security agent. Besides looking like a hip piece of jewelry, the geometric cut of the crystal is the key to opening your doors. A 3-D scanner embedded in the door lock scans the facets of crystal, and pops open only after authenticating the cut. Only probs is that in a fit of rage, if you ever smash that crystal, you’d be locked out forever!

Emi Schenkelbach’s got the combos. She thought to herself one day, hmm, what would be awesome to do today? It would be awesome to develop a new unconventional method for combining metal and textile! That’s it. – And she’d be right. That is definitely an awesome thing to be thinking about doing. Focusing on the contrast between the softness and the rigidity of the two separate elements, a grid was constructed in order to combine them. And it was good.

Each “pinch” is a little bit of the grid. The grid remains the same throughout the material, and each bit of material has the same grid, but each bit of material with a grid appears unique.

Wouldn’t it be lovely to wear some of this as an armor at a punk show to defend against all those studs and sharp spikes? I’m for it. Good armor. Good defense against small bludgeons too I bet.

Also super fashionable. For all fashion peoples.

He went on to create a brand of sharp and functional men’s accessories called “Setgo” which brings to life innovative products in the categories of urban bags, sleek wallets and money clips.

I’m gonna go ahead and start out here by guessing your life could use a bit more ZAZ. Everybody could use a bit more ZAZ in their life, if you think about it. And that’s why Nooka has decided to name their new master-stroke the ZAZ. It’s a watch for 2010, with wacky / amazing features such as this: a completely transparent mineral crystal lens face. What’s that mean? It means you can see right through it. ALSO it means it appears to be displaying time directly on your wrist!

You’re no longer on time, time is on you.

If you’ve seen Nooka watches before you’ll recognize some features and aesthetics the same as before. The four vertical bars, for example. Additional items include a green LED light function, time, date, and a lovely butterfly clasp.

Feature: Chronograph and alarm
Size: 45 x 35 x 8 mm / 22mm wide band
Water resistant to 5ATM

Three models: Silver face with black or white leather bands, or a silver mesh band.

Oh so fashionable, oh so you.

Sleek and minimal? Check. Large screen? Check. Oodles of tech? Check, check and check! The E’llipse Traveler is a watch to end all watches. Why? Because it has a fancy processor and the latest algorithms in human-machine learning. Yes it learns you! It knows what you want and keeps you up to date. That’s not all. ZigBee and Bluetooth modules enable indoor localization, an impossible feat for GPS. The UI is based on widgets – one for every kind; time, weather, calendar and a custom API lets developers get creative.

Welcome back for this day’s installment of the Everyday. Every single day you (or at least I) use a plug, or multiple plugs to activate the objects we use that require the power. The power of electricity. But how can the power of LOVE be attained? With a plug. In what’s more than just a simple gesture here, Anna Yu of Yu Yu Design presents the Plug and Socket Duo Ring – one male, one female.

Made of PURE 925 silver. Best silver ever. I love cute little guys like these, especially when they can be worn without their clever intent intact. You could even put a nice gem in the weird crevices, if you’d feel so strangely inclined. These are part of a full, albeit limited edition ring from Yu Yu.

Let’s pretend for a moment that you live in the same state I do. Not the same state of mind, but the same physical location in the United States of America. I live in Minnesota. It is here on this ring of Earth that we have four very distinct seasons. For at least 2 of these seasons, we’ve got no use for a coat rack.* What does the rack look like then when you have no need for it?

What does the rack look like? Well! Funny you should ask. It looks so very nice, because it is the “Symbol” designed by none other than a mister David Scott. This rack is made to take hold of those months when the coat rack’s function is nil. It’s just so pretty on it’s own. But then of course it’s got Winter mode as well. 36″ wide, holds 75 pounds, and is made in monochrome aluminum or white with anodized colors.

*Unless you’re a fancy fellow or lady and need a place to hang your hat. And sometimes people put their shoes on there if they’ve been through a puddle. Dry time!
