Glaming Up The Fruit Bag

Glaming Up The Fruit Bag

A shopping bag is a bag and nothing more, unless you peak it up with some special effects. Regenesi’s Fruit Bag’s claim to fame is the ingenious use of reclaimed leather, specially sourced from Salamander. The smooth marriage of Italian flamboyance and Japanese practicality is evident in the characteristics of the shopper. Comfortable handles that sit easy on the shoulders and a series of internal pockets render it functional and secure.

Travel Bag-buggy

Travel Bag-buggy

I’m a veteran when it comes to traveling with kids and I know the nightmarish times I went through every time I ventured out. Cranky, jet lagged babies + luggage management is horrid combo. Try pushing a buggy and pulling your trolley bag at the same time! Dreadful! Good folks at Castiglione Morelli have an ingenious idea with their Samsonite Convertible Trolley Stroller Bag. A specialized compartment holds in a folded fabric, which when pulled out, stretches over the pull-out metallic frame; thus resulting in a child seat. Very Convenient.

Vegan Leather? Matt & Nat Archive Bag Review

Vegan Leather? Matt & Nat Archive Bag Review

In my never ending quest for the perfect laptop bag, I stumbled across a French Canadian company called Matt & Nat who have an entire line of soft goods but it was their Archive bag that caught my eye. It’s all vegan leather which is an oxymoron so just think of it as faux leather – really good faux leather. Hit the jump for me review.

Take ME With You This Weekend

Take ME With You This Weekend

Airlines really know how to ruin your vacations and I’m not just talking about flight delays. On my last trip Down Under they managed to screw up not one, but two of my luggage pieces. Thankfully they DID replace both of them, but to be fair for some part my suitcases were to be blamed as well. They were definitely not as sturdy as this Alliance Modular luggage that we see here.

Big Rack & That's A Good Thing

Big Rack & That’s A Good Thing

Need a duffle bag that’s sleek, nondescript, and functional? The Setgo Rack may be the bag for you. The company recently (Nov. ’08) updated their inventory with 12 new products for the urban go-getter. They were kind enough to send me the Rack bag to try out. I was on vacation prior and now wish I had the bag beforehand because it turns out, is quite sharp and utilitarian. Hit the jump for my review.

Brass Knuckles Purse Would Probably Give Me A Black Eye

Brass Knuckles Purse Would Probably Give Me A Black Eye

I’m not saying I’m a misogynist, but I can’t help but feel traitorous with respect to my sex for posting this brass knuckle inspired “Punch-Bag.” I’m sure a woman who would use this on an ungentlemanly man would have good reason, but I can only hope the knuckles themselves are as plastic as the bag.  For those interested in the odd textile, it’s a laser-sintered polyamide formed into mobius-like links that chain together.

Here We Go Loopt-y Loo

Here We Go Loopt-y Loo

Eva Bauer & Hetal Jariwala are at their flippin’ tricks again and have once again created a highly functional stylish shopping bag to add to their Flip and Tumble collection. We first saw their 24-7 bag earlier this year that caught my attention – a bag to ball in 8 seconds, you can’t beat that. Yet they did it again with the Loopt bag.

Ecsotype for the Modern Urbanite

Ecsotype for the Modern Urbanite

We featured them last year and if you didn’t love them then, you’ve got to love them now because their new line of bags and soft goods epitomize modern luxury. There’s a sense of unabashed utility which I love because many bags in this price range ($200+) seem frivolous. I especially love the new Presse laptop bag. It’s masculine with just enough hardware to easily transition from work to a gallery exhibition at night. I have a phrase for bags like these – “quiet luxury”, deceptively difficult to pull off. This is what I call quiet luxury.

Grocery Bag Chic, Moukisac Review

Grocery Bag Chic, Moukisac Review

Walk into any supermarket today and you’ll see a new trend. People are bringing their own shopping bags. With plastic bags labeled as the evil accomplice to the environmental problem, a number of companies have taken it upon themselves to design grocery bags durable enough for hauling while remaining questionably stylish. After all, being “green” is now a message people want to project so shopping bags have had to evolve into accessories. I’ve been using the Moukisac shopping bag for the past few months and it promises utilitarian chic.

Bag for All Occasions

Bag for All Occasions

The Arrow Backpack keeps up with all your activites; gym, work, and school. The plastic structure collapses and expands to suit your baggage needed. It’s uniquely shaped to support your spine and the large neoprene straps relieve weight and stress on the shoulders. At its smallest, you can divide the bag into 2 separate modules.
