How Flexi Can A Radio Get

How Flexi Can A Radio Get

Specs-wise, it’s really up to a designer’s imagination; that’s the advantages of concepts. Realistically speaking, playing around with the materials used in an innovative way is kind of restrictive. Radio FM follows the norm of an object by appearing to be this rigid ceramic piece, but in reality the body is an enigmatic fluid PVC sail and is flexible. The controls are cleverly hidden underneath the device and simple; a button to switch it on and a dial to tune in the frequency. Can anything get simpler than that!

Going On A Carbon Diet

Going On A Carbon Diet

Eco2 Widget is a mobile and desktop app to get your carbon eating habits under control. Sure you don’t gain weight from carbon but you do harm the Earth and we all agree – the Earth is in dire need of a carbon diet. Like all diets, it requires a lifestyle change. The Eco2 widget not only monitors carbon affluents between all your devices but also educations and recommends little things you could do to help Earth get slimmer cleaner. There’s even a reward system built-in for digital money and to plant trees.

Dell Adamo XPS, World's Thinnest Laptop Reviewed

Dell Adamo XPS, World’s Thinnest Laptop Reviewed

At a scant 9.99mm, the Dell Adamo XPS really is the world’s thinnest notebook – truly design like no other. I’ve been trying to keep my tongue in check when Dell invited me to grab a first hand look at their new baby. It doesn’t look real. It’s almost too thin, yet underneath that metal exterior and diamond cut logo is hardware powerful enough to run Windows 7 without skipping a beat. Hit the jump for my review.

Different Window AC

Different Window AC

The concept of Blinds doubling up as Solar Powered Window Air Conditioner is not new, but there is something that makes Briz tad different. Briz uses water as a coolant; water runs through both tubes beneath the bottom part of the blinds emitting dry mist. As water evaporates, it absorbs the heat thus naturally cooling the atmosphere. BTW Solar Power and other concept gimmicks still prevail.

One Liter Racing Madness

One Liter Racing Madness

What kind of vehicle race would you see if each driver were limited to only one liter of gasoline? Thats what Moritz Martin is asking right here. Inspired by growing interest in speed and energy efficiency races, Martin’s concept challenges the driver to summon their tactical intelligence and skill to finish the race using only the energy of one single liter of fuel. Setting the race on thin water film areas and projecting the track on in interior display of the vehicle, this type of racing’s only been seen thus far in science fiction arcades.

UNIKEA: Make Your IKEA Unique!

UNIKEA: Make Your IKEA Unique!

What do you do when you reach a design roadblock? My favorite solution is to ADD LIMITATIONS. Often doing such a thing forces you to make decisions you might never have allowed yourself to make under other circumstances. From that, beauty emerges. What’s happened in this project is just that! Designer Kenyon Yeh takes IKEA furniture and hits the remix button!

Not Your Everyday Satanic Shelf

Not Your Everyday Satanic Shelf

Ever wonder what real impact organized religion has had on furniture design? Me too! I wonder that every day! Designer Guy Keulemans wonders that, and he’s doing something about it! Researching the ethnography of online atheist groups in addition to a historical analysis of the influence of religion on aesthetics, he set out to create a bit of furniture that inverts aesthetic function.

Two Headed Faucet and Filter

Two Headed Faucet and Filter

You’ve seen them, those giant honking water filter additions for your sink. The ones that look like a big egg at the end of your elegant faucet head. Well those days are over! Here is something lovely and new. Two faucet heads, one faucet. And best yet, there’s a new filter involved too – the “carbon block” – eliminating odors, residues, and chlorine. Will it pass your interior design fashion test?

All-In-One Credit Card

All-In-One Credit Card

Quite a few of us use multiple credit cards and every time one card expires, its plastic adds to the trash. So do the numerous receipts that we accumulate after swiping our CC. The fundamental of the One Card Electronic Card is quite simple; it wants to eliminate the trash (and resolve issues like identity theft via discarded expired CCs) by proposing to be this all-credit-cards-in-one device. On one end of the gadget is a Memory Card Slot that will help the user upload their various CC Details.

360 Degrees of Green Pod Chariot

360 Degrees of Green Pod Chariot

Four wheels, chariot stance driving position, and no regrets. That’s what’s up. Alexei Mikhailov has a green pod of goodness here for us, the future-world city speedway single-person-transport. It’s called the VW Pholeum. It’s got an external wheel base which allows a 360 degree range (eliminating the antiquated parallel parking blue), fully immersed rubberized tires and independent spoke arrangements allowing for full bump absorption without the use of suspension. And more!? Yay!

Everyday Socket Rings

Everyday Socket Rings

Welcome back for this day’s installment of the Everyday. Every single day you (or at least I) use a plug, or multiple plugs to activate the objects we use that require the power. The power of electricity. But how can the power of LOVE be attained? With a plug. In what’s more than just a simple gesture here, Anna Yu of Yu Yu Design presents the Plug and Socket Duo Ring – one male, one female.
