All this and more in the Spykee series designed by CR. This particular entry is about Spykee VOX, who obeys your commands by voice or remote. It can move around, play music (with a connected iPod), remotely control other electronics, show human emotion (or maybe just robot emotion) with it’s face-lights, and kill things (as shown by the picture with blood spatters all over it (?!))

Concept and artistic direction by Lauren Vermeglio, renderings Dom Vu. Made possible by Cedric Ragot Design Studio with Erector brand and Meccano. This is what happens when you have awesome ideas: lots of people put their hands on it. (Not that lots of hands touching your stuff is a terrible thing, mind you.)

Awesome features of the Spykee VOX:
3 microphones
LCD screen
Made for iPod® dock
Digital music player connection
Obstacle detector
IR sensors
Stereo loudspeakers
2 motors
USB plug
IR remote Control

Check out first Veronica Bellmont for Engadget interviewing a woman for Erector showing all four of the Spykee robots. When Veronica asks her about it shooting lasers at intruders, notice that she does not refute the idea that these lasers will hurt. = Awesome.

Then find the Spykee Vox on the portfolio site of Cedric Ragot (Design – Electronics – Spykee Vox) and watch the video. It’s nowhere else on the internet, I swear. And it’s most excellent.

NOTE: In early versions of this robot, there was no iPod dock. (See picture #2) – Interesting, yes?

UPDATE: Most/all of the Spykee series is now in production.
I wouldn’t be upset if anyone decided to pick me up a few.

Meet Spykee, construct-it-yourself spy robot. It runs on tracks, it’s got spy gear, and it’s WIFI. It is the dream of all true nerds to have at least one robot companion. Ideally, they’d be happiest with a city college robot, but for those who wish to own their own, here’s the tiny one. Spykee.

Enquiring minds want to know: what does “spy gear” consist of? Well, we’re in luck, because we have a detailed list of what Spykee is capable of right here-

oh. uh oh. There he is.

Spykee no! I wasn’t going to share the list of your capabilities! I know that would be absurd, and could endanger the entire spy world! I swear I didn’t say anything!

No Spykee, don’t do it!

When you receive your very own tip light, don’t forget the following rules: 1. You may not have any small children in the house if you’d like constant light. 2. The same is true of cats, puppies, and relatives on holiday. 3. this tip light is actually called “Ataton”, and like most products posted here on Yanko Design, it is a concept, and is not for sale!

Ataton is as it appears. Tip it one way and it’s on, tip it the other, and it’s off! Of course you’ve gotta be careful not to hit it on accident. Or, maybe that’s your intent! Maybe you could make up some Ataton light-games!

Begin all potential/silly uses for Ataton below. Go now!

Welcome back, I.D. fans, to this newest installment of “Do-Want” for artists and nerds! Today’s product is made by a designer who’s been published by Yanko more than once: Cedric Ragot! Ragot brings a simple wooden Moleskine modification kit the likes of which Matisse and Hemingway would love to shoot love letters with all the live-long day: the Love Messenger!

Composed of flat pieces of wood and designed to aid the charity Vaincre la Mucoviscidose for cystic fibrosis, the Love Messanger is the gift you can feel good shooting off all day long!

Hit your room-mate with a note that tells them to turn the light off for extra “green points” credit!

Go go Karma Ranger!

Note: The brand “Moleskine” often claims to have been used by such fame as those people noted in this post. An important fact to note is that the brand “Moleskine” was only registered in 1996, and though the famous people quoted in this post may have used similar notebooks, Moleskine as it exists today: didn’t exist for them!

Yanko has no small coverage of lighting solutions, tricks, and just plain fun ideas. This one’s a work of art. Rendered to perfection and produced to reflect the mysterious flight that inspired its creation. Flight 815 coming in for a landing!

Be sure to read up on Oceanic Flight 815 before commenting. It’s a flight that was lost at sea, found, then found again! An intriguing story, accurately reflected in the production of this lamp. Real fun.

Cedric Ragot designs his way in to a box. When you’ve got a house you want placed in some new Shui sort of order, you might consider putting a frame on everything! Your pictures, your tables, your pets, and of course, your flora. “Compose-It” is a frame for plant life. It comes in several sizes: small to BIG.

Constructed entirely of Corian®, you can be sure that the nonporous surface is precise and the entire object is certified kosher. Currently there are two model sizes, (dimensions on picture #3,) wall-hangable and wall-standable. I would not be opposed to having three gigantic flower-frames dominating a wall in my house.

I smell some temporal art coming on.

I’ve never fallen (asleep) in the fireplace. I bet you or a loved one hasn’t fallen into the fireplace (recently.) I bet your dogs, cats, or hamsters don’t fall into the fireplace (often.) Cedric Ragot is here to set your life on fire.

Your life, your cat, or any other accidental thing.

Or you can just warm your house.

What this item is ACTUALLY: is a chimney. It’s called “Burn Out,” and it’s definitely not made for houses with new puppies or babies or clumsy people. Wood, gloss steel, and fire. 65cm x 55cm x 55cm and dangerous.

Did I say be careful?!

This range of multifunctional occasional tables eschews the usual the 4 legs for panels of 3 with the main support structure highlighted in bright red. The design allows free-from arrangement. Turn them on their sides to create whole new spaces and configurations. If you don’t move them around, you could potentially used the red support leg as a cool asymmetrical book shelf.

When we think of urban spaces, it’s often about efficiency. Beauty usually plays no role in the design so the Ondine Bench is a perculiar concept. The smooth organic shape can be created by combining identical modules and arranging them into a circle. They provide a fun way for people to sit – some higher, some lower. Its modular design should make it easy and cheap to manufacture while lifting the urban environment by instilling a sense of design and beauty. Most importantly, its design is adaptable, as the designers put it;
