Ten Fantastic Kitchen Concepts

I know how enthusiastic most of our readers are about cooking, so this round-up should have been my top priority. Better late than never, they say. So here’s a list of Ten Innovative and Creative Kitchen Concepts seen on YD. Some may beg to differ, but that’s ok, we are all allowed to have our opinions. Point is, we all love to cook in a classy, futuristic kitchen!

Dogs and Cats on the Internet

Dogs and Cats on the Internet

This is a project about the future. The future of pets. Dogs and cats, mostly. It’s a harness. On this harness is a bunch of information: GPS location, vaccinations, and medical information. With these tidbits, enter the online experience: communication with fellow pet owners becomes a whole new level of creepy / excellent with realtime pet updates.

Jeeze Frank, that is a Nice Kitchen Hood!

Jeeze Frank, that is a Nice Kitchen Hood!

Robert Brunner of Ammunition Group steps up with a mince-no-words collection of kitchen hoods. You know the kind: big, ugly, yellow. Or at least they’re that way if you’re living in a house whose kitchen hasn’t been updated in the past 10 years. Get minimal! Get something from the “Arc Collection.” The colors and designs range seven main categories, but they’re all 36 inches wide, suck smoke, and shine light.

Coox in the Kitchen

Coox in the Kitchen

Another entrant in this year’s Electrolux design contest, the Coox cook top table makes urban living a cinch. The flexibility enables you to roll it where needed. Now cooking in your living room right in front of the TV, or by your desk in the office is just a matter of convenience. When the unit is off, it even doubles as a table for serving and eating.

MMMuummmuummuusssssiiiiiiiiccccc for the deaf

Before I get tons of comments as to the merits(or lack there of) of this design, hear me out. I am all for inspiring designers to help people that are not given the same gifts most of us are born with. The gift of hearing is one of those we all take for granted everyday, and designer Pierre-Antoine Bouzard is contributing his part to help the deaf of the world share and “feel” the gift of music.

Sacré bleu! Eiffel Tower to get a make-over!

UPDATE: News of Paris-based Serero Architects’ installation at the top of the tower has been declared a hoax by La Societe d’Exploitation de la Tour Eiffel (SETE). I repeat Eiffel Tower Extension is a Fake!

CD Player Concept, Even Tho It’s 2008

Sure CD sales have steadily declined but that doesn’t stop some designers from envisaging new concepts created just for pure audiophiles. The Pandora Alcantara is a wall mounted CD player that borrows a little of today’s tilt sensing technologies to make the disc player more relevant. The remote control comes in the form of a tilt sensing bar fitted with a wait for it. . . touchscreen. Leaving the bar vertical lets you control volume while the horizontal position lets you scrub thru tracks.

Kitchen Of The Future, Aion

Kitchen Of The Future, Aion

In 10 years you might find kitchens utilizing features like the Aion by Antoin Lebrun. The specialized plants were developed by the aerospace industry for their filtering and cleaning properties. They provide a renewable supply of clean water and vegetable soap. When cooking, the plants act as a filtering hood. When it’s time to clean up, simply place the dirty dishes in the sink, close the hood, and the all natural clean cycle begins.
