Extreme Efficiency
The winning entry in the Aurora Survivor 2050 competition announced by Mazda and the Aurora Solar Vehicle Association is this design by Ali Jafari. The solar assisted electric Solaris has both an approachable and futuristic aesthetic. Both super efficient and quick, it has a top speed of 150 km/hr and room for driver and passenger. You might just catch it at the 2013 World Solar Challenge.

How long does it go without sunlight? How does it turn? I don’t mind the aesthetics.

Is it just me, or does this thing remind you of the jetson’s hover car?

Pretty sweet, so long as you don’t have any cargo (even a grocery bag looks like it would be hard to fit in here) or drive over speed bumps, on gravel roads, or any other unlevel surfaces. Probably a design concept only, but with a little higher profile plus battery backup (charges while parked)and a small storage compartment it might make a decent vehicle.

but does it turn?

What about the uplift wind force? This will turn this vehicle upside down at higher speed. Great curves but not practical.
