The Sinus headphones bring on the split personalities. The dished ear cup is a control dial, which transforms the headphones into a set of speakers. Take it a step further and integrate Bluetooth functionality and I’m sold. I want to be able to wirelessly pipe my music to them instead of having to use the 3.5mm jack.

Designed to be an uncompromising statement of confidence and seduction for equally confident and alluring professionals in their early 30s, the Egoiste is the antithesis of the apologetic and humble image traditionally associated with electric cars. A clever twist in the leash design and here we have the Doggy Poop Collector! The poop scoop is integrated into the handle of the leash. Once the poop-job is done, you just swing it out and clean up the mess in a jiffy. Doing the obvious in a very discreet way! Love it!

Most cellphones have joined the touchscreen bandwagon so once in a while it tickles me pink, to come across a QWERTY concept merged with the touchscreen option. The handy keyboard is placed to the right of the phone and it has a 30˚ slant to it. It’s quite a handful but in a good sense and I think we can do with a Samsung Cave!

Fusing digital media and product design, Hyper(reality) offers an alternative perception of a user’s environment using an augmented reality helment in tandem with the Microsoft Kinect system. This digital experience shifts the user’s perception of their physical surroundings, allowing them to navigate through the 3D environment and encouraging new behavior and interaction within their real environment while immersing them in an entirely new world.

As powerful as alternative reality may be, by 2030 designer Marco Sweston expects to see a major shift in people’s attitudes, & imagines that many will not only abandon their controllers, but will seek even more extreme thrills than before the digital revolution. The Touch Effect racing event and vehicle is a result of this concept that puts the digitally stimulated user back in the driver’s seat.

Gotta love this minimal design by Samuel Jerichow! The Dot watch is made of a single flexible strap covered with a stretchable, retractable PVC-based sheet. The center mechanism consists of three cylinders- one “on” indicator dot that is permanently visible as it presses up against the sheet, and two hour and minute indicators that magically appear when the center dot is pressed. After 5 seconds the dots disappear again. A simple and futuristic looking timepiece with a playful analog charm.

The WaterStation is a refreshing new take on water filters that we find at food courts and supermarkets. Generally the dispensing machine allows you take water by the glasses. This new redesign includes water bottles that you can take to your table, use and then dock it back for refilling. If nothing else, this new idea will save me countless trips to the water filter and make food courts a better experience.

Ear MIKI is a very cute ring that helps you manage your phone and earbuds in one go. Simply pull out the earplugs from one end and hook up to the phone/music device from the line. When not in use, slip the ring around your finger, like a cool accessory. The earbuds retract into the hub and give the Mickey effect. Sweet!

More about highlighting an issue than developing an end-all solution, the Completing Absence collection of conceptual dinnerware is the result of an examination into the influence an object has over a user’s decisions. The stack-able ceramic plates balance perfectly only when arranged in the correct order, encouraging the user to eat recommended portions in a specified sequence while discouraging indulgence and shifting the user’s idea of satisfaction from excess consumption to task completion.

The Kicker Tea Tumbler, the latest concept from Kicker Studio, combines a teapot, infuser, and heater into a minimal tumbler that subtly incorporates technology to ensure that each brew yields the perfect cup of tea each time. The “low tech” feel and natural materials preserve the sensory experience of sight, touch, and smell of traditional tea making.

Awww! I love the idea behind this design by Christian Sallustro… Aura is an interactive lamp designed to split into two identical and symmetrical pieces that allows two geographically separated people such as family members, couples, or friends to share their feelings through light signals. The user’s physical interaction with the lamp’s surface translates wirelessly to its counterpart with varying expressions of light that let the user on the other end know you are thinking about them!

Fold-a-boat is a seamless, hard shell, folding boat made from one single sheet of plastic. The objective is to create an accessible flat-pack leisure boat designed for flat water environments. The 2.5m vessel can be folded and packed into a small 150cm x 60cm parcel. Someone call IKEA! The product targets an outdoor activity market; water lovers, campers as well as potential boat owners. A secondary market could be applications for NGO’s responding quickly to natural disasters.
