Fascinatingly Simple
I have been admiring this design all day, and driving everyone around me crazy talking about it and making them check it out. What can I say? I’m fascinated by the Rising Chair! It looks more like a sculpture than a chair, and what makes this combination rare is that it’s flat-pack ready. Designer Robert van Embricqs achieved the organic form by pulling up slats cut into a flat wood surface to see how the material should naturally mold to make the seat, back, and base. Intricate yet functional, the result is evidence of the special connection between material and designer.

I didn't even realize this was a chair at first, haha, I wonder if people would be afraid to sit in it

hi people, thanks for liking it, people where afraid yes, but it can take more than 100 kg, the weight is divided equally

Looks great but one thing I would like to know is the edges rough or could (would) you be able to smooth them "round them down without destroying the folding mechanism?
I know of many chairs out there where they forget about this comfort (rough edges).

OK, but to clean the dust, it will be a problem.

Actually, just fold it flat and wipe it off. Won't get the joints, but the rest is a piece of cake.

Very cool! When there are posts with furniture such as chairs or sofas, I always wish the designer would include a photo of someone actually using the product and sitting in it. 1. For scale, and 2. To see how the person looks while sitting in the chair. Are they comfortable? Can they recline. Can they sit naturally?
