A Quad for an Electric Future

A Quad for an Electric Future

I don’t normally think of Quads as appropriate vehicles for the tree hugger but the post fossil fuel revolution is upon us and with that, everything has to change. The QUAD is one such concept that brings recreational vehicles into the electric future. A 48v electric motor powered by 4 750amp batteries provide this vehicle 3 hours of juice between charges which only takes 6-8 hours depending on your voltage.

Aston Martin for Interiors

Aston Martin for Interiors

Only a handful of companies carry the badge of luxury and class like Aston Martin and with that cache, they’re expanding into interiors. The premiere of Aston Martin Interiors in Milan marks a new chapter in the company’s portfolio – one that combines their unique technological and design prowess into a distinct contemporary mark for home and office. Think advance industrial technologies like carbon and kevlar compounds mixed with traditional luxury materials like leather and cashmere.

This Rubber Table Sucks

This Rubber Table Sucks

Not really, but Rubber Table’s plunger-inspired legs will stick onto any flat, clean surface to create a suction vacuum. Shown here in the classic burnt-orange color of its predecessor, this table’s aesthetic is quirky and whimsical. Admittedly, I wasn’t sure if I loved or hated it, but ultimately it’s grown on me. I’m a sucker (no pun intended) for anything that is inspired by familiar fragments; not to mention, anything that looks like it’s crawling toward you. This design pushes functionality to a whole new level.

The Balancing Act

The Balancing Act

My mother is totally dependent on using a walking stick and still, has moments of pain using it. To make it a more comfortable experience, we have here the Balance Stick. It’s been designed to stand on its own and doesn’t fall over if you don’t lean it up against the wall – always at the ready to so your loved ones don’t have to pick it up.

Soda Gets a Better Pop

Soda Gets a Better Pop

Popping soda can equals broken nails…. how many agree? I do; it’s happened to me one too many times! This is why I look forward to the Can Ring Push design. The innovative special 90-degree ring-pull design should be easy on my fingers and nails. A clever and intelligent redesign!

A Table of Religiosity and Geometry

A Table of Religiosity and Geometry

Check out this polarizing coffee table called Crucifixion. The inspiration came from religion, aesthetics and geometry – complimenting each other  to create this stainless steel and polycarbonate figure. It looks almost alien. Quite austere but in a way that makes you stare. The aerial shot is gorgeous. Great proportions.

Sitting Next to People at the Airport

Sitting Next to People at the Airport

5% annual growth of global commercial air passenger traffic means more people in an airport terminal at one time. The AEROS  project looks to improve seating efficiency by tackling personal space issues through the use of table and seating arrangements. Current tandem seating is ineffective. People tend to avoid sitting next to strangers. In some cases bags are put on top of seats intentionally to create a barrier.

Fast and Furious in 2025

Fast and Furious in 2025

The Aerius concept is a high performance electric vehicle for 2025. The concept combines the performance of race cars with emerging sustainable energy sources and materials. It’s driven by Michelin Active in-wheel electric motors at the rear and on-board electric motors in the front for instantaneous acceleration and agile handling. The aerodynamic body to reduces energy consumption and solar panels re-charge the carbon nanotube super-capacitors to extend its range while emitting zero carbons. Time travel will cost extra.

Water is Money

Water is Money

The +-water meter is a digital device that attaches to faucets and gives you accurate feedback about usage. It stands out from other meters by converting the consumed liters into actual cost! Now you’ll know your water bill in advance, sort of!

Write on a Table

Write on a Table

The Writable is a fun and interactive look at how we can spark up the conversation around the coffee table. Three flip panels at the centre house chalkboards on the underside with a chalk discreetly held in place. I love the way it changes the outlook of a simple structure to something more eloquent. Definitely a conversation starter!

Beautifully Disposed Trash

Beautifully Disposed Trash

The sight of ugly trash bins in scenic parks certainly mars the natural beauty. Bryant Park Litter Receptacles and Recycling Bins put an end to the eyesores and appear as inspirational pieces that urge us to be responsible citizens. The bins come in three variations, one for general trash, one for papers and one for cans and bottles. The linear detailing, colors and operational slits match the function of each bin.

For The Single Person Family

For The Single Person Family

Meet MET, a two-person vehicle for the single person family of the future. The need for massive cars is dwindling so MET was designed to address the social constructs of future families to meet the needs and possibilities of an electric future. Instead of massive and heavy battery backs, the rear wheel is the battery. It can be swapped for a charged one from public stations or home charging units.

Wartime Decor, Modern and Upscale

Wartime Decor, Modern and Upscale

The KALAB Exhibition features military surplus and “souvenirs” turned into enigmatic furniture and home decor. Born out of the Israeli conflict, there’s a strong mixture between military and civilian life – defining the culture. Vases made out of bomb shells, ashtrays made from extinct bullets and a sofa stacked like a dugout. It raises questions of security and confronts the idea of civilians playing the part of the soldier.
