Rub A Dub Dub, Futuristic Tub
The Tulip is a revolutionary bath/shower combo designed for small bathrooms. Inspired by tulip blooms, the pod like shape serves as a bath when open and as a shower when closed. In this upright position, the footprint is significantly reduced. This inspired and efficient use of space brings luxury features normally reserved for traditional units into the smallest bathrooms. Underwater jets, massagers and programmable sequences ensure the most relaxing bathing experience. Patent pending and looking for a manufacturer.

This is shower/bath unit, not just a bath-tub. This project is much more complicated – mechanism that allows to simple switch between shower and bath mode:
AESTHETICS AND FUNCTIONALITY
Spaciousness and functionality are features that in many bath designs are overlooked. Majority of bathroom designs are spaciously confined to provide only the most essential sanitary amenities without any flexibility in room arrangement.
Within a confined bathroom space, the design allows for the incorporation of a shower/ bath unit without compromising the functionality of the room. It also manifests a new concept of bathroom design restricted by available space.
TECHNICAL
The Shower/ bath unit incorporates an underwater massage function. An Electronic control panel and numerous nozzles are orthopedically located to target specific areas of the body (feet, shank, knee, hip, back, etc.), they are programmable to suite individual preferences. The Water whip system when placed upright in the shower mode also functions as massage therapy.
Piotr says
MECHANISM
A simple mechanism allows the switch between the shower and bath mode. It has two rotating axes: vertical, enabling to change between shower and bath capabilities, and horizontal, the door permitting access to the shower. A Quick and simple mechanism allows to utilize bathroom space efficiently.
SUSTAINABILITY
The design is also environmentally conscious. The Bath-tub is designed for one person and holds the optimum amount of water sufficient to address bath amenities. The closed shower cabin stops warm air escaping, as a result saving hot water use. The unit has a limited and ambiguous physical footprint because of it morphing characteristic. In default, the unit may be positioned in the shower mode and the bath option utilized only when addressing the individuals desire to bathe. The circulation space of the bath room comes to serve also as functional space when the unit is positioned horizontally. Ultimately smaller bathrooms can be designed for a bathtub and shower option.

And how exactly would one use this shower *without* washing your hair each and every time? And no, shower caps don't count.
Piotr says
shower water stream is programable and movable. Cant show everything on 3 drawings.
Nightstallion says
Fair enough, that sounds like a good solution.

This is the best design of a shower/bathtub I have seen in my life! Absolutely amazing design. Although I dont personally agree with the colors of it, i think it could definitly hit the market. Make a prototype and exhibit it on this years Fuori Salone (Saloen del Mobile) in Milan and you'll sell the design 199%!!!! Good luck

Good idea, but I think that if someone can afford having unit like that, he can afford also for a bathroom big enough to have separate bath and shower. pozdrawiam

space saving? to open it at least you will need the same space as a bathtube.
Piotr says
Yes… when its closed you have plenty of space. Think generaly… its not open all the time.
thorsten says
The design on the upper half leads to water spilling when you use the bathtub.

Quite similar thinking of bath and shower combined into one appliance. But it was designed almost a year ago. http://www.m4m.com.pl/en_design_meble_wanna.html

about the mechanism, 2 axes, is a good idea, but you need to evaluate if it can be made in reality. The bath should be heavy, so you need a mechanism for women to rotate it easily.

Hi, the first one would be the most difficult one, because we need to do everything for the first time.
Currently we are working on this project in SOLIDWORKS, preparing all drawings and details (3D elements – 1 to 1 scale) needed to manufacture it. Need some time to finish it. I think in 2 months we will be ready to build it.
Therefore we are looking for somebody to help us financialy… If you are interested please contact me: piotrek_pyrtek@hotmail.com

Have you considered making the back part out of carbon fiber and/or fiberglass? Or perhaps you could get a firm to print the whole thing with a 3D printer. And I suppose you would make the front/tub part out of lexan or something similar.
Q'mal says
how much will it cost on the market?
Piotr says
I think it will be between 5 – 10.000 dollars. Depends on peripherals.
