Behold a lovely plug-n-play lamp, one where you decide how it looks based on how you put the pieces together. It’s called ChromoSoma and it’s designed by Javier Alejandre. It’s a brilliantly simply yet hugely and decidedly thick lamp made for those with a taste for the floor-sitting nature it inflicts. Made up of two pieces: base and branch, each new piece creating a new bit of tree, creating your own personal forestral moment.

It’s the funny situation we’re in as a society, one where we’ve got lovely green resources such as plant “waste” that ends up going to waste each day of the year simply because our day-to-day lives don’t have room for collecting and using. Instead that waste does indeed go to waste, but designers Patrice Mouillé & Alain Tessier want to put a hand toward ending that with Vertuo, a Worm composter.

That’s what’s going on here. This Plera is a new suspension lamp concept, the word plera meaning to funnel in Friulan, a language spoken in northeastern Italy. It’s a strange touch of two disparate materials for an excellent feel – not to be left crashing down!

The Dervish Coffee Cup takes inspiration from the Sufi Saints and their attire. Flowing robes that spin around as they twirl to their enchanting music! This essence is captured perfectly in the coffee-cup set of two. The double-walled porcelain cup gives a safe grip, making the cup handle an unnecessary attachment. Thanks to the curvilinear form of the plate, it is very easy to hold and carry. Once together, the two parts transform into a single, fluent form, preventing any risk of spilling. I’d love to have a set for myself!

The Credit Card for the Blind looks complicated but is quite simple to use. It uses the cardholder’s fingerprint (using fingerprint recognition software) as their signature and the Braille on the display for transaction details. An inbuilt speaker rattles-off the kind of products being paid for, thus giving the blind a complete account of the transaction autonomously. Giving them a completely secure and safe transaction.

Conservationists are few and far between, so sometimes it really depends on how cleverly you design a product to get the desired eco-green results. It’s quite natural for us to keep the water running while we lather our hands, so how about designing a faucet that allows you to do only ONE thing at a time! Presenting the Anti Waste Faucet: it holds a soap dispenser on the top half and the water-tap in the bottom part. Pump the lever down to dispense soap and raise it up to turn on the water. Basically you squish some liquid soap into your hands, lather up and then pull the lever up for water to rinse your hand.

This is a fast bike. It’s called “The Beast” and it’s designed and executed by M55 Bikes and it goes 40 miles per hour. One charge on this electric bike and you’ll go as far as 75 miles even off-road. That’s impressive, yes? It’s made of custom parts created by M55′s seasoned engineers, using technology and materials used in Formula One cars and supersportscars alike. Titanium, carbon fiber, CNC machining, and a brushless motor mechanism, plus more!

In celebration of 2010, it marking 50 years of the United Nations adopted a resolution of independence, freedom, and sovereignty for all African nations, designer Hugon Kowalski has decided to create a water tower project. Availability of fresh water in the Sudan, an area where only 2% of the land is arable, is one of the most important issues for the entire population. In 2007, University of Boston scientists discovered an underground lake that might solve everyone’s water problems, thus, they must pull it up!

Or just for sittin around. This is called the Street Beat Seat and it’s made for your sitting down and playing of some jams pleasure. It’s a lovely seat into which the drum is inserted and held in place by helix bolts. The drum can be replaced or changed at any time by professionals, and the thickness of the metal is meant to prevent vandalism of any kind.

I thought I was being a miser, but in all honesty I cut open the end of my toothpaste tube to get to the last wee bit of paste. Call it conservation or being stingy but that’s what I do. So I totally identify with the Thrift Toothpaste package design and hope someone like Colagte or Crest adopt it! It will save me the trouble of hunting for scissors…I’ll just tear open the rear end!

A simple collapsible cover is what the Umbrella + design is all about. The ridged cover retracts near the handle stem and stays out of the way when in use. It glides back to the top, to cover the wet-dripping umbrella, making it easy for you to carry it indoors. Simple and effective!

It’s quite a heart breaking sight to watch wheelchair bound children not taking advantage of the swimming pool due to their limitations. The Little Mermaid is a floatation aid that is aimed at such children. It comes fitted with a hand-wheel that helps the child to navigate across the pool independently. So besides some hand exercise, the child can enjoy waddling in the water! Sweet!

Welcome to Airbaltic Terminal potentially the future Riga International Airport, Latvia. Herein lies a lovely structure. The terminal in the center of this lovely airport is a simple 20m x 20m structural model. The roof of this terminal is a made up of 18 parallel portal shapes, each of them extruding along a curve creating “an undulating wave composition” with no parallel. The modules on the North and South edges of the building extend beyond the main terminal envelope creating terminal piers supporting gates to Schengen or Non-Schengen flights respectively.
