This right here is The Jamaica Blue Mountain® cup designed by none other than Santos Bregaña of Atelier Laia. The folks at Atelier Laia are known for their world-famous fantastical cups and dishes and dinnerware, so you know when you get that name in your sights, you’re about to see some quality. What this “perfect cup” consists of is a set of the most perfect characteristics possible for the drinking of Jamaica Blue Mountian coffee.

This Bookshelve’s Back is Bent

This bookcase looks just like the inside of your back. There’s a bunch of bones in there, and that’s what this is aimed at looking like. It combines with the surrounding environment by casting shadows it extends horizontally by employing its lovely sliding elements. Balance, dynamism, and movement can be found in this beast through the circular attachment plates, all of them lightly separated from the wall. The designer of this “Schiena” bookcase, Pietro Travaglini, placed these plates as the physical connection between concept and reality.

Overcoming The Blind Spots While Driving

Ever been a victim to blind spots while driving? The Full-Rear-View Windscreen Monitor aids in overcoming those spots so that you have a safer drive. The system consists of consists of two parts: a windscreen display and micro cameras installed on the car’s exterior. It uses the upper part of the windscreen to display a real-time image of the vehicle’s surroundings (as captured by the cameras). I think the option could prove to be a double-edged sword, because plenty of you driving veterans are sure gonna get distracted by the secondary display!

By The Power Of Rings

The RIMA lamp is an awesome beauty that has what it takes to be artistic and fun. Four controller rings manage the whole show…sliding them left to right or vice versa illuminates the LEDs or switches them off. The heat, intensity, angle of the beam and color are controlled via these rings, however a processor, which detects the position of each single ring, regulates the actions.

A Hut of Paper and Light

The following project is called Empapeladas Espacio Efimero and it was made by Kumi Furio and Yolanda Herraiz. This is more of an art project than a design project, but then again, who’s to say? Made entirely out of paper, created by a series of paper laminas, repeated and repeated until a space was formed, one where you go inside and you’re only surrounded by paper and light. Such an experience have I never experienced. Are you experienced?

Time Capturing Vessels

The first concern of this project is to think of vessels in which time can be captured. Inside this collection are four lines of work: solar, lunar, eclipse, and spiral, all of them suggesting geometric strategies, the four of them together achieving a balance in the same sort of manner as the four traditional elements: fire, earth, air, and water. These are the reconfigured words of Deunor Bregana and Anne Ibanez Guridi of Atelier Laia for their porcelain collection “o! luna.”

Zippers for your Choco Drinking

If you’re the sort of person who reads Yanko Design all the time, you may remember just the other day when we posted a cup of some creepy magnitude. T’was a Teeth Mug and it touched its deadly chompers to your as you sipped. Now there’s something else. A bit of a zip. The Zipper Cup (believe it or not, designed by the same designer as the Teeth Mug) comes in a set of two so you can bundle up for the winter with a nice jacket of hot cocoa with a friend or loved one. Or if you love your friends, the same person.

Fire Safety With Home Sprinkler System

This Sprinkler concept was designed for residential homes doing triple duty as a smoke detector, emergency light source, and sprinkler. Sometimes the nearest fire extinguisher just isn’t near enough so this bad boy is extra insurance. I’m not sure what it sprays to put out fires. Water would suggest the need for plumbing yet the diagram describes it as “powder.”

Exercise Sticks?

The el:Dudy is an all around hand-held exercise system for “older” people. Each has a bevy of motion sensors and accelerometers to accurately track progress. All the information is sync’d and stored on your computer or phone via bluetooth Real Snazzy eh? This looks so cool. I can handle wrist twists and I love anything that helps stretches me out. And since when did massage become exercise? I’m not “old” but sign me up. Preventative measures people!

New Nooka Zub Zayu

Ooh look! Nooka just added a new watch to their lineup. The Zayu is the latest in the Zub series. I’m particularly keen on the curved back because nobody’s wrist is flat. It’s also the first watch to have a “sleepmode” to conserve battery. The asymmetric design may look odd but you can flip the display to accommodate lefties and righties. Earphones Tangled No More

“Get Job’s art out of your pocket and onto the wall”

Enough Apple Hype to grab your attention? The focus today is on these tiny colorful rings that help you manage your earphone cords. The Budtrap urges you to turn your iPhone into art by confining your earbud wires to the One Less Tangle. I guess a more acceptable solution than zipping them up!

Know Your Wipe [NSFW]

Did it even occur to you that one day you maybe wiping your hands and face with an area of your towel and the next day using the same area for ahem, “other” areas? Thanks to the guys at True Clean Towel, I’ve totally become aware of this! The solution for hygienic wipe-ups is either washing the towel everyday or using the True Clean Towel! The clever design highlights a “body”, indicating the head, bottom and torso. Using a line from their info – “While the concept is of course meant to be funny, I think many couples will, when sharing a towel, appreciate the road map!”
