A Very Cubed Kitchen

The Kit – Cub Kitchen is a very well thought-out plan and covers almost all the basic requirements of a kitchen space. It adopts the cubicle form and houses a fridge, microwave, sink, cutting table, modular storage cabinets, garbage bin and an electrical cooking top. What’s unique about the cabinets is that just below the sink are 2 dedicated as water tanks, one that feeds the sink and the other to collect the gray water. Now if we are careful in using green products for cleaning the dishes, I’m sure the water can be recycled to good use. Tedious labor but very rewarding!

Hands of Light and Darkness

It has hands of darkness some times, and hands of light at others. It doesn’t always illuminate the time, but it’ll never leave you in the dark. What is it? Equinox! The clock that’ll illuminate the way you view your hours, minutes, and seconds. Designer Bram Knaapen presents hours as three colored blocks, minutes as a single colored block, and seconds as a fading row of blocks, all of them sliding round and round the Equinox circle.

Encouragement Plug for Environmentalism

This is a plug for the world to become more environmentally friendly. It’s a plug you’d plug into the wall to access power, but not just that! No way, that’s too simple. This one lights up in a way that shows you the way, the truth, and the light! This “Insic Wall Socket” encourages you to use power only so long as you need it. This isn’t just a dormant tool, nay, this one’s encouraging you to be the green crusader you’ve always aspired to be.

One to Four Seater

The following car aims to do the following things, all at once: provide a new luxury experience and a new way of driving. Be a family car OR a personal car at any given time. Be a smart solution for the everyday tasks of the owner. Be a space for relaxation – a part of people’s living space. This is the “Volkswagen Inside.” A new luxury concept for Volkswagen, by designer Mate Bartha. A transformable luxury electric car, customizable for 4 person, 2 person, or 1 person use in seconds.

For The Apple Geek Of The Day!

I’m sure this concept is going to bring smiles to many iGeeks (me included) and keep us lusting for it to become a reality! The Docking and Storage Base is a convenient tray that fits under the screen of the iMac or PC and docks everything ‘i’; iPod, iPhone, iPad. It covers the area below and to the back of the screen allowing you to sync, charge, store and display up to 3 devices. Two of the docks are towards the end of the ramp so that they don’t obstruct the main screen, allowing them to be used as secondary screens (clever!).

The New Indoor Sun

The urban landscape makes it difficult for us humans to experience the bliss of natural sunlight at home, thanks to the towering high-rises. So how can we expect our houseplants to flourish or pamper them with the natural goodness of sun? Unless of course, we get sneaky and trap some solar power in the “Solight” and then hood it over the plant; trick it into thinking it’s getting some natural sunshine! Clever idea and no one will know how you manage to keep those plants happy…because you can stash the Solight away when not required!

Never Ending Pencil

To cut a long story short, what we have here is a simple writing tool called the Continuous Pencil, which can be used till the very end. We usually end up discarding pencil stubs…I know my children waste too many saying that short pencils are uncomfortable to hold. So basically you keep increasing the length of your stubs with a handy interim-headless-long stick that fits snugly into its rear. Quite simple and straight, but is it a refinement of the 1 + 1 Pencil?

Yummy Pieces of Ceramic

This collection of plates and cups and containers and etcetera are all about the creation process. Designer Dik Scheepers saw the way the ceramics industry was doing things: multiple iterations of mold-making labor intensive, and said hey, let’s make this easier. So he did. It’s all so simple. Instead of creating a mold for the whole bowl at once, ask why it’s got to be perfectly round – then you will see the answer. Pieces of π (pi) uses individually constructed pie pieces of molding to create, making a modular system of this whole process!

A Black Steed for Reading

This is one skeletal couch. That’s not to say it’s not comfy and full of love though, because it is! This is the “Bucefalo Sofa” designed by Emanuele Canova for a new generation of book holders and readers. That’s right BOOKS! I’m sure it’ll hold your laptop just fine too. Made to be elegant, simple, stark, and powerful. Like a majestic black horse for you to ride into battle upon.

Lamp and Vase Display

Two items, one intent. There’s the “Platevase” combination plate and vase and the “Favourite Things” pendant lamp. With the Platevase you can place not only a lovely flower or flowering treebranch, you can fill it with chocolates and other lovely edibles! What a fantastic combination of smells and tastes made possible by a round porcelain vase! Then there’s the Favourite Things, a pendant lamp with room for all your most awesome little items. Put anything you want in there and bam! Lit well, displayed well, makes the item feel really important. A real esteem booster for trinkets!

Timing Your Lights

The idea is pretty direct and in-your-face….we need to conserve our electricity and can’t have you squandering it away. So how do we implement this? By taking tiny innovative steps, like introducing a timer concept for our lights; especially for the ones on the staircase. A device called the Flat Light does just this, the LED Hourglass interface is quite indicative of its intentions. Once the LED grains reach the bottom, time’s up and lights out! I wonder if you can set the time limits for the whole system, in advance. Question is, are you willing to make the necessary changes to conserve?

Table On The Wall

The scene is this: you need a table but only occasionally and you don’t want it to occupy much space in your home. So how do we do this? Build it into the wall or take the innovative “hang it on the wall” approach? I vote for the latter and hence The Folding Table! It stays on the wall…doubling up as a bulletin board, but when you need it…3 easy steps and it’s a full-fledge table. What’s really cool is that Endrit has designed the wall hooks to function as a coat rack when the table is in use. So thoughtful!

Spinning Time Out Of Control

“Time and tide wait for no man”, so goes the saying and that’s the exact feeling I get when I see this roll-calendar called “The Past”. As you pull out the paper, the dates fly past, compelling you to realize the value of time diminishing. This convenient roll splits time into days without repeating….and when wasted, it becomes a scribble pad!

Yeah, no time like the present…so stop dwelling in the past!
