Turn Your TV Into An iPad

Turn Your TV Into An iPad

Russians are not to be left out of the iPad hype and until they get one, here’s an alternative I’m quite jealous of. It’s a set of plastic covers and decals to turn your flat screen into a giant iPad called the iTVPad. I want, no I MUST have this. If anything, it’ll be a great way to dress up an old flat screen I have sitting in the closet. Yes friends, it has a whopping 800×600 resolution, even less than the iPad.

Nomadic Sound Systems

Nomadic Sound Systems

Nomadic sound system is a family of objects formed from wireless, battery powered, portable speakers designed to explore new ways for sound to interact with people and space. The project borrows from the typology of a marching band with the pieces intended to be used together, each responsible for one part of the audible experience.

Hermes Auto Feet

Hermes Auto Feet

The Hermes X is designed to be cross training shoes that will last you for a very long time. Its been conceptualized with body made out of Kevlar and the sole made out of natural and synthetic rubber. Although Kevlar has many applications ranging from bicycle tires and racing sails to body armor because of its high tensile strength-to-weight ratio, it’s the first time I’m hearing of it being considered for shoes. Moving on, the inner part is single unit injected foam, which can be replaced if necessary. Needless to say, Omer turned to the auto industry for his inspiration!

Sealing With A Hinge

Sealing With A Hinge

So far you have been sealing your cartons with either duct tape or normal transparent scotch tape. If you were to have the option of the X-tape, I’m sure you would have used it. Design is not always about problem solving or functionality. Sometimes elements of surprise, like this optical illusion “hinge” tape gives creativity the fun-edge that it requires. Mr Lee & Mr Park, how about sealing it with a kiss next time?

Sitting on a Twist

Sitting on a Twist

Welcome back to new antiquity. Back to the future, that’s what this is. This project goes by the name “Ionic Bench” and is the work of deigner Laurie Beckerman. Inspired, as I’m sure you already recognize, by the top of an ionic column, taking from it not the hard stone thickness, but instead the lines only, creating a light a lovely bench full of space and due to its construction: resilience.

Fruity Water Gate

Fruity Water Gate

This project is completely apolitical. It IS literally a gate of water. This project goes by the name of “Water Shade” and keeps a shield of H2O around the fruit it is sworn to protect. It’s both a dish and a cover, working with water to keep freshness in and everything larger than Oxygen OUT! Designer Yitu Wang doesn’t want to keep you from your delicious apples though, so there’s a built in detector that sees your hand in approach, and thus is does desist.

Hand Shadow Shapes Upon the Wall

Hand Shadow Shapes Upon the Wall

Enthralled by the idea that something creative can be constructed with nothing more than one’s own appendages, designer Victoria Cramsie created this fabulous wallpaper design for children. In that vein, the wallpaper design is titled “Hand Made.” It’s lovely and fantastic and screenprinted – my favorite method of printing inks by far. No foolies.

Spindle Ball Alarms!

Spindle Ball Alarms!

Some designers want you to stand up to wake up, others want you to stretch but Pedro Gomes wants you to play with the toy-like Sleepy Alarm Clock! Spin the spoodle and it allows you to sleep for a wee bit longer. Overall a cute design that will fit perfectly in the children’s room. What I dig the most is the fun, interactive way we can change the time by simply moving the ball back and forth.

Starry Lights Of Origami

Starry Lights Of Origami

The Star Lamp is a very versatile piece, transforming from a tabletop, floor, hanging to a wall mount with ease. The Origami influence is quite evident in the stylish folds of the hood and simplistic layout. The translucent grey polypropylene disperses the light from the bulb to create subtle lighting for any living area. Made from two pieces of polypropylene sheet and reinforced thin aluminum legs, the lamp can be knocked down to a flat pack for easy packaging and shipping.

Coffeemaze! Better Than Any Gaming

Coffeemaze! Better Than Any Gaming

The thing with addiction to games is that you tend to find ways and means to include them in your daily routine. Like if you have a phone, you’ll download games and play on it. Same goes with computers and I needn’t mention the obvious: gaming consoles! The question is how do you satisfy your addiction on a coffee break? “Oluk”! Not your conventional coffee set, but a saucy saucer with a maze, so that you can immerse yourself into ‘chasing-the-coffee-drop-game!’
