I must disagree. While the string length in the lower octaves may leave something to be desired, there is more than enough room for the action and soundboard. Assuming the white portions are nothing more than a fascade, the rest of the piano body can be identical to a small grand. My only concern is for the poor fellow who has to tune the darn thing…unless the tuning pins can be exposed somehow, it’s going to be a tough job!

For the entertainment business, this is a decent method of beautifying it. But a true lover of the piano wouldn't add more crap to it, making it impossible to transport without shattering half of it.

I think that, due to where the join lines are on the body of the piano, the tailpieces would be removable if this ever made it to production. This would make it much easier to transport. Great design

A) is so freaking cool looking… B) Unless you have played it don't complain about how you think it might sound and C) unless you can genuinely play the piano stop making stupid opinions on something you will neither want nor use and just enjoy it for the visual feat that it is!

It's hideous. Yes, I do play the piano, and this monstrosity can barely be called a musical instrument. Its primary purpose is not music; it is primarily a visual piece. Sure, maybe it works, but it's not a piano. It's an abstract sculpture with piano features.

If you're going to reinvent the piano, you should probably like… try to reinvent the piano, instead of just pulling the back like some kind of taffy. This isn't clever in any respect.

it's clearly nothing more than concept art without putting much (if any) thought into the practical aspects of a piano

This is a clever simple way to introduce visual art into the live auditory form of art. As those of you who dislike the design may have noticed the majority of population prefer this as a more intriguing design. We live in a time of Attention Deficiency. Lady Gaga is simply adjusting the live performance end of that for the masses. If you notice as well the MAJORITY of her fans are imbeciles. Although many of her fans do not know exactly what they are hearing, Lady Gaga knows who she is creating for. She is creating for those who don't understand an a basic level, and for those who understand at an advanced level as with herself. Those who are lost in between fall to a dislike with her. I adore Lady Gaga. For the genius for manipulating the knowledge that those who sing poorly make millions and those who are highly skilled don't. She pretends to sing poorly when in actuality she takes great skill. I have noticed some very simple vocal techniques that she uses to get a specific sound that the untrained voice could not figure out on purpose. Her literary references amaze me. And the Irony of her song "Just dance" lured me in. That was a song referencing how the masses don't actually listen to what they hear meanwhile appealing to the masses. PURE GENIUS! For those of you who think this has a HUGE affect on a piano get over yourselves. If anything this design would make the piano sound more effectively because of the larger area that is in contact with the ground. The actual Body is meant to resonate the vibrations set forth from the strings inside of it. Creating a more fluid body should result in a more fluid sound. Again. LOGIC PEOPLE!

I've played piano for ten years and I think this is very pretty and modern looking. The actual body of it looks like it would be about the size of a baby grand; I'm assuming the extensions come off. most likely it is electric because trying to tune that might be a hassle. The sound may or may not be different, but as none of us have played it, we can't possibly know.

It is an electric piano, you can see the speakers in the second picture. However impractical, it appears it could be made as a true piano as well.

guess you didn't notice it IS a conventional piano, the extended parts are just that, extensions that would have little effect on the instrument overall, like a decorative extra stem on a wine glass, it doesn't do anything but it looks nice

Personally, I think it has no class whatsoever. It looks like all the other cheap, plastic gadgetry that symbolizes the age of today: weird, futuristic, and lacking in culture. The front end that houses the keys is completely bloated, and there's no sense of cohesiveness. I almost expect it to light up from the inside with fluorescent or black light bulbs. Why does the piano need reinventing anyway? It is incontrovertibly timeless and beautiful. Seriously, why add a kiddie slide to the back and liken it to a mythical water creature when it's already one of the most stunning instruments in existence? As a pianist of over fifteen years, I feel like my experience validates my taste level.

I actually quite like it, especially keeping in mind the artist and act that inspired it. It is fluid and funky enough that I bet it would look good on a Lady Gaga stage, but I would be very upset if campus put one in the new concert hall (unless they let me slide on it). IMO you should not criticize someone on their own interpretation and modifications of the piano, but rather applaud their efforts! Musical instruments go through changes with the music that is played with them. If we did not have these creative minds then we would still be making primitive noises with wood and shells. The guitar changed with the times, so what is so different about this piano changing? The piano’s form itself doesn’t alter how it resonates much if any. If you are only here to criticize on the visual aspects, learn about music or gtfo

As a classical pianist for fifteen years, all I can say is…I do not care one bit about whether or not it’s “right”. This piano is awesome and I would love to play it.

ifirst off, I’ve been playing the piano for almost 30 years now since I was a child, I was playing mozart and beethoven and the like when I was only 8. They spoke their words through their music, their melodies, the entire composure, and they evoked real feeling, and could do so without a single word being said. THAT is talent, THAT is art, and THAT is a true example of the beauty a real genius can convey. Its getting really old watching money being thrown down the toilet on this lady gaga crap. All it is is manufactured mainstream so-called “pop” music and the only reason everyone thinks she’s such an “individual” or she’s some genius is because that’s what she’s being marketed as. She’s a moron, her music is moronic, and actually spending money on her crap or making something as beautiful and timeless as a piano into nothing but a cheap hideous piece of “art” that’s so “wild” is pathetic. While this atrocious piano is already finished of course there’s nothing anyone can do about it, but I sure as hell know its not going to replace the originals. Its a huge waste all in the name of being eccentric and of course, the more people who actualy consider this good art, (or her a musician for that matter) are the ones being targeted because there will always be fools out there to make this sort of junk money. People are starving, homeless, and in pain. It sure will stay that way as long as people are kept mindless and shell out the money to people who are already rich for no good reason. Mozart, Bach, Beethoven – those were geniuses of their time as well as ours, they are truly timeless artists. But hey, throw some tits, some blood and gore, and some fart jokes and its a million dollar hit. Cheap crap and idiots are the reason this country is going to hell, and fast.

i’ve been cumming on a sham wow for the past 3 years after jacking off. i can definitely testify to the fact that it has done a great job of mopping up the loads from my chest without leaving a bit of residue. i also think it’s cool that it’s gotten so hard that it can stand on end now!!!

If the two sweeping sections to the front of the piano – the one, long; the other, shorter – are acoustical,i.e.,for true transmission of BASS, true transmission of MID&TREBLE, then it must be a mighty sounding instrument!!: but that’s only…IF.

It’s a swell futuristic looking concept. Way too stylish for Lady Gaga. I would hope that form follows function and the shape of the instrument also augments the sound and not just be for show. Also, here’s a hypothetical question for all the chimps that think this is a hideous design. What if the reality you knew up to this point was the “Hydra” design, and then a designer came along and showed you a new design that happens to be the boxy shape were all familiar with, would you think that was hideous also ?

I have to say that I would not like this. Although the design is creatively made, I prefer a classical piano. Modern is not my style. I dislike how music is losing it’s beauty and creativeness. Music is supposed to come from the heart and soul, not a machine and stealing other people’s work. You don’t have to agree, but this is my personal opinion.

Try being a little more positive (: That being said, I think the piano looks pretty cool and artistic, although i prefer the more traditional styles myself, being a pianist.
