Good Hair

Good Hair

Here’s an incredibly simple hair dryer called the Shaker. The entire shell is made from ABS plastic that can be removed and recycled. The simple construction also makes it much easier to clean. The rear even hides the power cable. Designs like this may seem arbitrary but I could easily see this in developing countries. However, I need the latest and greatest. You know, 3 heat settings, cool blast, ceramic ionizer, the works.

Power, Luxury Meet Mother Nature

Power, Luxury Meet Mother Nature

When you think of Bentley, most people conjure up images of refinement, grace and traditional craftsmanship. But since 1998, when VW took over as Bentley Motors’ new owners, Bentley has shifted into high gear and moved away from the gilded luxury barges that barely differentiated them from their previous owners Rolls Royce. Now designer Gabriel Tam, at the Royal College of Art, has re-imagined an even more aggressive Bentley.

All Eggs In One Toaster

All Eggs In One Toaster

What makes Bang Bang (I love the name) different from other egg steamers is that it works more like a pop-up toaster. You place your eggs in the designated holes (inspired by the Sponges & Corals in the movie Finding Nemo) and put sufficient water in the holding tray; lower the egg lever and wait for the steaming action. After they’re done, the eggs pop up, just like your crispy brown smiling toast would! Now that would be a classy combo!

Extended Life Of A Toilet Paper Core

Extended Life Of A Toilet Paper Core

Do you really care about your toilet paper? Is its lifecycle really worth a mention? Do we want to discuss toilet-habits on YD? So many questions…and there is only one answer for this… “Day Re”! The deal is that once you’re done with the tissue part of the toilet paper roll, you toss the brown core into the trash, right? However if you buy a Day Re toilet roll…you just extended its life and purpose on earth! The core comes with a sticker tab that unfolds to a memo pad. Good enough to take daily or weekly notes!

5 Zaras Tall

5 Zaras Tall

Welcome to the flagship store “Zara” of the Inditex Group, a group known for several brands of fabulous fashion clothing.* What this post is about is the installation they’ve got sitting in from of their Milan store. It’s five meters tall. It’s white, colorful, and magnificent. AND it’s designed by UNStudio, a group Yanko is DEFINITELY guilty of loving for their excellence in architecture. Behold this mighty column!

Tiny Helicopter Defense System

Tiny Helicopter Defense System

What’s 12 inches tall, 24 inches long, and gives you tips on boat invaders? Not space aliens. Not a flying dog. A tiny helicoper spy by the name of “Crows Nest Anti-Pirate UAV!” It will let you know, right away! If there’s any pirates on the way. Meant to fly rings around your ship as you float along the sea, minding your own business. If it detects anything large enough to constitute a boat inside it’s defense perimeter, it sounds the horn!

Fishy Muscle Makers

Fishy Muscle Makers

I’ve got to tell you the name of this project first and foremost. Designed by Sun ho, Sin, this project is called “Barbellfish.” It is so very close to the word “Babelfish” that it cannot be denied. Before we discuss the similarities between the fish and this project, we’ve got to discuss this project’s aim: to make it simpler to lift weights! Rather than attaching them to a bar from the sides, these allow for a top-loading weight.

So when you think… laptop… how quickly does your mind drift or skippy skip on over to bamboo? Not quick! But let me tell you, when the two are rammed together, you’ve got comfort. Forget the Chair Back

Forget the Chair Back

Sometimes you just forget to complete your project. This might SEEM like one of those times, but I say thee nay! This is meant to be exactly what it’s called, the “Uncompleted Chair.” When one lives in a tiny apartment, one finds a place for every essential thing. Or one gets a dirty apartment and one gets kicked out of the complex! So the design duo Chia-Wei, Lin and Jui-Lu, Shih whipped up this chair that’s a container for umbrellas.

To Be Cornered!

To Be Cornered!

Have you ever seen a circular barn? You know why they make those? So the DEVIL can’t corner you! That’s what’s up. You know what else is up? This shelf. It’s up off the ground, right in the corner, right where you want it. Designed by Marie Dessuant and titled “Etagère de coin” aka “Corner Shelf,” for probably what you might call obvious reasons. From an extended group of furnitures also by Marie Dessuant called the “Vague Objects” collection. But really, really it’s totally exciting. Totally!

Ornamental Pluggings

Ornamental Pluggings

Here is a completely refreshing take on the drab power strip! Ornamental almost akin to a Ming classic, the 360° rotating plug sockets are fascinating! Each socket on the Takoyaki has a router function and once you hook in a plug, the rim around comes to life as a nice blue glow. Ideal if you want to use it as a nightlight, because these kinds of power strips, you don’t want to hide anywhere. In fact, you can actually be a show-off and find them a prominent place!

Measure This

Measure This

The Shell is a sleek digital scale sexified with good modern looks. Lift off the Stainless Steel measuring bowl to reveal a large LCD display and simple controls. Rest the upturned bowl on the unit and it’s ready to weigh both liquids and dry foods. A convenient ‘add and weigh’ function also allows multiple ingredients to be weighed in the same bowl during recipe preparation and an auto power-off feature maximizes battery life. So perfect for all my crazy crafting needs, like changing base metals into gold. Hehehe, hahaha, AHAHAHAHA!
