Underground Cat Bathroom

Welcome to the modern world, cat, no more pooping above the ground for you. Nay! From now on you have your own room to poo. In through the ceiling you shall go! This fantabulous contraption is known as the “Modcat,” and to the future this cat shall go. The top has an opening through which the cat shall go, and inside this bucket of pleasure the cat shall have just enough room to do the business and exit. From there, it’s just a simple flip and grip and you’re on your way to cleaning!

USB Post-it Are Damn Handy

Where is the scribble paper when you need it? Never ever around; and the same thing goes for pen and other stationery items! Not all of us are as organized as the Virgos who have prim-n-proper workspaces. Hence, a USB stick with a notepad to it is an AWESOME idea! Details like a plastic cover to keep the notes contained really impress me. I wonder if this will mean the demise of notepapers, or is this Digilog Memory the second generation already?

Coffee Loving Umbrella

Try carrying your tall café latté in the rains! One hand full of your stuff, the other has an umbrella….get the drift? The solution is to get a functional Umbrella, like the one designed by Jung-Woo Lee. A convenient coffee-cup rim integrated into the handle solves the issue. I say cheers to more coffee and bring on the rains!

I Carry My Own Streetlights

In this day and age of multi-functional lifestyles how can we expect fashion to be far behind? Wouldn’t it be tacky for a pair of socks to simply be a garment? We need to rev it up a little, maybe add kinetic theory to it and a pair of bulbs and make it headlights for our feet. Go jogging in the dark or sizzle the Milan Ramps, but the moral of the story is to “Keep on running…baby….oooo…yeah!”

Harley Futurism

Let’s talk about the future of Harley Davidson. Motorcycles from OUTER SPACE! And what does that mean? Laser cuts. Laser cuts all over the place. Options. Wheels. Great things. All of this under the title “2020 Harley Davidson 1,” designed by Jonathan Russell. There’s other features, like two ways to sit, greatnesses here and there, but the most fabulous of these is the Apple Computers inspired laser-etched perforations in the aluminum which gives translucency enough to let the LED lights underneath shine through.

Square House, Back Yard

How square would you like you home to be? So square? Me too. Let’s talk about this house right here. It goes by the name of “Backyard House” and it’s designed by Thomas Schaer of SHED Architects. Sitting right up on the hill looking down over downtown Seattle and Elliott Bay. Spaces and finishes and big fat giant walls of glass for optimum in livability and having a really, really amazing time just sitting in the living room.

The Ohhh Light

The title of this project is “OBO Light,” and a stranger shape for a lamp never have I had the pleasure of seeing. It’s a ring. Sort of an oblong ring that projects light in a rather unique way, shining in any of several colors up on the wall and thusly all around the room. If you’re like me, one of the main goals of your life is to achieve a fabulous purple or orange ambience in my workplace room. And, AND, it has the ability to be made of partly wood, plastic, metal, or junkfood!

No Shelf For My Shampoo!

Less Soft may not be the apt name for a liquid soap /shampoo packaging, but the purpose behind the re-design is apt! The idea is to use a packaging that is eco-friendly and can adopt variations in skin, so that it becomes easy to distinguish between soap and shampoo when we are all lathered up! The material used to make the bottle is “self-resolved corn starch vinyl”, and has suction cups to stick the bottle to the wall. I dig the fish-shape the bottle takes,which is prominent when hung.

Simple Art Of Crushing Herbs

One of the secrets in cooking that I picked up from my grandmother was to freshly grind all the herbs and masalas in a mortar and pestle. She did not believe in electric blenders or processors and relied totally on her muscle-power. Although time-consuming, grandma said that hand crushing the spices made them release their true flavors! So going back to the basics with Orb, this 3-piece set has the versatility of crushing and grinding larger quantities or even several ingredients at once. Naturally the big bowl is for larger quantities, but you can upturn the lid and use it for a smaller portion.

Fire hydrants. They’re red. They give firefighters access to water to put out fires. Dogs pee on them. They work pretty good for what they’re meant to do. But what about the offseason? What happens to lawn chairs in the winter? They get put in the shed. What about fire hydrants when there’s no fire? I know, let’s sit on it. Let’s sit on the fire hydrant. But wait! It isn’t comfortable at all! What can be done?

Mizuhiki, Japanese Knotting Art

The art of Mizuhiki goes back to 7th century Japan the paper knotting was used to tie samurai hair. The paper craft brand OEY has taken that art and applied it to modern table ware and launched their new collection at Milan Design Week. The intricately corded paper rings, chopsticks, and napkin holders come in an assortment of beautiful rich colors, each handmade from paper and silk. Even the most drab table settings would benefit from it.
