The name of this project is “Coffee Break,” and not just because you can have a hot cuppa while you’re sitting down on it. Many of the items are “broken” versions of their original form – a spoon for a human-sized seat, a set of giant plates for a table. Yes indeedy you will feel just like a cute little mousey sitting here drinking your hot refreshers, and in fabulously easy on the eyes colors, too!

From the Yanko Obvious Files comes this latest creation from designer Sam Drury. The “Self Supporting Shelf” is a masterfully simple idea. It is a telescopic shelf that extends between two flat surfaces for a perfect fit every time. No screws, no nails no messy clean-up.

Buzzer alarms need to be tossed out of the window and replaced with the CoffeeTime. The idea is to wake up with the smell of coffee…no jarring rings or bells; just the inviting aroma. How does this happen, you ask? Well, you pre-set your favorite coffee capsule into the hour-glass shaped alarm. At wake-up time, the steaming brew just pours into a waiting cup and the strong aroma of coffee arouses you.

If the G-Spot is hard to reach, then how about fooling around with breasts? Erotic pleasure just took another techno turn and you can squarely blame the iTit for it. Deriving pleasure (rather inspiration) from Apple’s optical wireless mouse, the added feature to this design is tactile interaction with nipples! You read that right! A nipple provocatively beckons you to come and feel it…and responds to your caress as a joystick would. Oh my…what fun!

I’m not a big fan of study-table lamps simply because I can’t stand the surrounding darkness. Always creeps me out, but I’m sure most of you students need to invest in one. Sharing dorm rooms, you can’t disturb your mates right! So when you use one…how much light is sufficient for you? How about a lamp that lets you decide the luminance. Swipe a finger or span your palm to get “As Much As You Need Light”. Just the right amount of focus and light!

The watch you’re about to see right here is called the “Ever Increasing Watch” and it’s designed by none other than the fabulous crew at EleeNo. You know what kind of world we live in. One where you’ve got some sort of phone or computer device with you at all times. Some sort of object with you constantly that’ll give you the time of day whenever you want it. So what’s the point of a wrist watch? Again I say, for the love of the game! In honor of the simplicity offered in the readout on your cellphone, EleeNo offers this watch to engage!

What do you do when you’ve got a lot to haul, but you don’t want to go down to your local Dodge dealer? How about if you’ve got about 500 pounds of gold you’ve got to move from one place to another? How about diamonds? You can’t go around moving that stuff in a Ford truck! You’ve got to get yourself a PORSCHE! But they don’t come out with Porsche trucks like the kind you want all the time, you know so you’ve got to invent it yourself. That’s what’s going on here!

After you or a loved one of yours passes, how low will you go? Hopefully not TOO low below sea level, but if you’re into the ocean, here’s the container you aught to go down in. It’s called the “Genesis Biopod” and not only is it a reasonable pod for your dod to go low in, it’s a means to increase and sustain ocean life at the same time! That’s right, your dead body is good for more than just rotting around! Your remains can spread the love for future generations of your beloved ocean life, right here, right now.

Our dependency on gizmos and gadgets leads us innovate and come up with portable solutions for charging them. Even on a hike in the wilderness, a GPS device holds more prestige than a compass! With The Source is a device that plans on harnessing the solar and wind energy to tank up enough juice for your everyday gadgets. It even incorporates a powerful LED Torch to light up the camping nights. My only concern is the sturdiness of this design. It looks to be pretty easy, but I’m sure you technical guys will have a bone to pick with it.

Truly it is the law of all children that one must find it his or her duty as a young human to decide the jumpability of each and every piece of furniture in their own environment. Yes! Furniture was mean to be played upon. But lo! It was no designed that way. And so! Here comes a brillaint designer mind by the name of Kaja Osholm Kjølås to lead the way with “Buskas,” a set of furniture to INSPIRE play for all kids.

This car right here is the sassiest little number this side of Volvo, and it’s aiming to be the car that leads every pack. Designer Nouphone J. Bansasine presents his vision for the 4 door coupe, taking the trend for these to be highly sought after, producing here a 4 door sportscar for the year 2015. What’s more? This car was made during an internship Bansasine rolled with at the Volvo Monitoring and Concept Center (VMCC.) What’s that mean? It’s the real deal, honey!

One theory suggests that to keep office efficiency at maximum levels, employees should have minimum personal interaction. Meaning no chit-chats or coffee-breaks together, just emails and IMs! Supporting this theory is the Electronic Office Screen Door that embeds an electronic imaging screen underneath the sheer veneer and above the wood. It has its pros and cons….like you can always display a “Busy In A Meeting” message before that nagging accounts guy wants to come in for bills clarifications. Or that guy who got the promotion can keep rubbing the “New Manager” title in your face!

Let’s be metaphoric this Monday Morning and discuss how you would re-design everyday objects. As designers I’m sure you must be using pencils and erasers, so let’s just zero-in on erasers for the moment. How would you restyle this synthetic, perfumed piece of plastic so that it not only looks good but works effectively too. One of the things with erasers is that they erase better when they have a sharp edge. So does this mean the Pebble Eraser fits the bill? I think it does…
