Hoodie Light

I have a vested interest in soft electronics, particular mixing hardware with textiles. It’s nothing new but we are getting closer and closer to wearable clothes and that excites me. Take for example the Skôn which means nice in Dutch and Swedish. The rim of the hoodie has a knitted variable resistor and varies when you play with it. The changing resistance value changes the intensity of the light. There’s something ethereal about this. Even tho summer’s approaching, it makes me feel all warm and cozy inside.

Hexagonal Bliss

The hexagon is truly a powerful shape. Sure, triangle and circle may get all the press while hexagon sits in the back but its moment is coming to fruition. It’s a beautiful, symmetric shape; a balance between geometry and utility. It can be used in a number of designs that call upon the bridging of the two. Take the Hexis, a sleek silicone coaster with an inverse edge turned back on itself, providing the perfect resting spot for utensils. It’s minimal, stark, and modest but eye catching somehow. Love it.

Recharging With The Rubik’s Cube

We have seen the Rubik’s Cube do a lot of stuff. In fact if you hit Rubik here, you get to see an MP3 Player, a Braille version and security codes. The Cube Magic here is a battery charger that works on the electro magnetic induction principles; play with the cube, harness some energy and covert it to juice for recharging gadgets. Awesome!

Doggy Bone Is A USB Hub

The SMART • E is a smart USB Extender that saves you the embarrassment of pulling out the wrong plug out of the hub. Imagine losing out precious data or function just coz you pulled the wrong plug! How lame!

The practical dog-bone shape diversifies the sockets to the four ends and keeps the wires under control. Hopefully this won’t stay a concept for too long.

One Plate, Three Bits of Food

This is the plate right here. It’s got three plates, but it is also one plate. At the same time! At the exact same time, this plate is both one plate and three plates. How do you do!? You do so well, so well now that you’ve got this plate which separates all your foods into three in such a clever, clever way. You join your meal of several foods into one, yet the plates are not joined! Not joined until the food gathers together in a party in your stomach! Well no more.

A Bowl Made of Yarn

Yeah, that’s right, you could put some apples in there, and they wouldn’t even fall out! What am I even talking about, you might be asking. I am talking about the MOA Basket Series of Elastic Yarn, that’s what I’m talking about! It’s so radical you’ll quit knitting that sweater you were making for your grandma and you’ll START making that yarn skull you’ve always wanted to make. And it’ll stand upright! Not like those crappy floppy skulls you see down at the market. Nay! These ones are rigid.

Wacky Energy Savings!

What’s green, plastic, transparent, huge, possibly good for energy savings, and makes your house look like a spectacular amazing fun room designed by Pee Wee Herman? That’s right! It’s two new designs from Farsad Ghaffarian! One of them is a roof for your home made out of simple, rollable plastic. For energy savings. Then the other one, this one is the “GreenBox”, which is a springy plastic box made to suck cold air from the floor up into itself. Also for superior energy savings!

Those Are Smart Bookends

There was a time when people described inanimate objects as “smart”, to indicate a certain level of class and appeal. The Book Stop by Cubo3 are simple bookends meant to evoke humor in a playful way. You know what? They look “smart” if I do say so myself; not because they’re cute, but because they’re reading. Clever clever. They’re made of double metal lamina and you can get them in many colors. Sexy Audio Makes Unicorns Happy

Take a look at the speakers next to your computer and ask yourself if they’re sexy. I’m going to assume you answered no and present you with the ICIC System of Computer Speakers by Lukasz Natkaniec. The simple shape was designed to help spread sound in a manner we all expect; slight angled up and out. No idea what it’s made of but the Unicorns are happy. Yes Unicorns are sad when your speakers suck. I’m not drunk this morning. I’m telling the truth. Don’t take me away. I’m sane I tells ya.

Did You Hug Your Coffee Today?

The Alfredo Coffee Cup encourages you to get a bit more interactive with your daily cuppa. While the main coffee mug is made from wood, the redesigned saucer is made from ceramic. More like a cup lazing on a hammock, the overall effect of this set is that you can place your sugar and milk sachets comfortably in the tray below, while you caress your mug and share the warmth of the hot brew.

Kodak Brownie Revived For The 2012 Olympics

Reviving the Kodak Brownie for the future Olympics is quite exciting and traditional, since Brownies were often made to commemorate events and anniversaries. Just to skim through a few details: this 2012 Olympic Kodak Brownie has been modeled as a ‘box Brownie’; specifically the Brownie Flash 3 from 1962. Proportionate to the Flash 3, the new avatar is 66% of the scale, representing the tech advances made since the original was discontinued.
