Mine smells like a cat, and sneezing. It’s kind of like a survival course. But for Vivian Chun-Yen Wang as a design student, it’s the school’s natural odor, of course! Her project here deals with the olfactory portion of everyday working in a non-culinary environment. Why non-culinary? Because they’re basically the only ones that already have their smells mastered!

Standing on scales to check your weight is supposed to be this hushed up ritual (unless you’re thin) that no one is supposed to know of. So I’m really curious to know how people will react and accept the Riant Weighing Scale. It’s got this jazzy pendulum system to it, with one knob that stays focused at your previous weight (or desired weight) and the other one that reads your actual weight. Stand on it, and god forbid you’ve gain weight; it lets out this shrill sound of pendulums crashing!

Bike Thieves move on to your next victim, because this bicycle has BROKEN WHEELS! This exact feature is what keeps the bike safe. I love this ingenious idea that kind of breaks down the inner rim of the wheel, so that it becomes an unstable cycle with wonky-wheels that no one can ride. Anti-Theft Collapsible Bike Wheel; that’s what you call this baby.

Map Hole is a new road guidance tool designed to direct pedestrians and travelers to their final destination using existing elements in the urban landscape. It locates the pedestrian with a starting point and provides information on the exact distance or average walk time to the listed landmarks. It sounds intriguing but I feel like I need a cartography degree to understand it. If this were real, you might just enter a city full of confused people looking down at the ground.

They’re not pigs at all. They’re a mobile, wireless projector and speaker set called Polpettek. Say that 10x fast. The anthropomorphic flavor is supposed to be more inviting and blend in better as objects of design rather than electronic equipment. The little speakers have magnetized feet so if you wanted to stack them into one large multichannel speaker – you can. There’s no info regarding specs but the designer’s last name is Alessi (no relation). Uncanny tho. It would fit right in their product line.

On the lookout for something super cute, delicate yet functional to add to your walls? I’ve found you the right stuff! Hookmaker Teacups add grace where it is lacking; it holds your knickknacks and trinkets, and has a hook for you to hang your keys. I’d like to hang a bunch of these together, just for their dramatic effect.

You do recollect the Crank Up Battery, right? Close on heels to that concept is this Eco – Twinkle Light. Just like how you would crank up the battery or simply sharpen a pencil, you rotate Twinkle’s handle to charge it up. Twinkling fairy lights with loads of imaginary fairy dust, sparkle up this gem of an idea!

Coral is this elegant pan that you can use for cooking and serving, but unlike the rest of the gang, this one comes coated with thermochromic spots. The pale blue dots turn into bright orange beauties, as the temperature of the pot increases. The handles on the pan comes off easily, thanks to the plug-spring system used. This ways you get to cook safely and efficiently and then slide off the pan-handle and serve right away!

Yes! This is a grill by one of the longest-winded design team names in the business, or at least that I’ve ever seen: Liebschaften Möbelgestaltung. They’ve made this lovely little grill and have titled it “Longgrill.” It’s the missing link between grill and fire bowl! One simple slider’s all it took, all it takes, all it will take when you’re out camping like a real trooper!
