That’s the real deal name: “Mister Twister.” Designers Cate Hogdahl & Nelson Ruiz-Acal, aka Cate&Nelson, have come up with this fabulously chopped lamp for you all to gaze at and with. It appears to have been chopped twice precisely with a samurai sword which enables it to leak light in several “chinks” – more light in more places, that’s economy lamp-making.

I really never gave it a thought before this, but how will a blind and a deaf person communicate with each other? One can’t hear the voices and the other can’t see the sign gestures! Both can’t learn each other’s special language; or can they? It may seem like a presumptuous situation, but something like the Sign Voice Language Translator (or SVLT) can offer a solution. The device acts like a translator, converting gestures in voice and voice into written text. I’d like to see a video of people testing this thing!

That’s no boom box! That’s no ghetto blaster! That’s a Sonea unit! It’s basically a machine which protests the waste of perfectly good noise, converting it to energy we can use to do anything! Anything at all! But probably most often such things as lighting street lamps and such.

Super super substitutes! Each of these items is a domestic object not being used for its original use. I used too many “use” words in that sentence. Anyway! Each of these items is only completed by the items which it holds. For example, the book table: it holds books. As it becomes full of books, the books then become a table! Neat! Three items included in this set!

You got that right! No Display! So every time you take a picture it’s like throwing a dart in the dark, you never know what pose, angle or subject you may capture. Not knowing is sometimes better, because this ways you can capture “real” pics v/s artificial smiles. Oneshot Camera has more tricks up its sleeves: it needs a good shake to produce its own power (through piezoelectricity), no confusing buttons, just click pics like how you click a ballpoint pen.

AFGT is a gaming device that uses tactility to enhance the video gaming experience. It’s made up of touch-sensitive silicon – subtly mimics the terrain in a virtual world allowing the user to feel through the environment. It works with individual silicon air pockets laid out underneath, each connected to an air pressure actuator that changes the air pressure in each packet. AFGT was created to connect the gamer to the game on a sensory level, with actions such as navigation achieved through manipulating the positions of the silicon pockets.

This beautiful bench inspired by a Korean style Han-ok house is gorgeous from end to end. The Kiwa’s sinuous curves are evocative and inviting for my bum (cue British people laughing) to sit on. The general shape of the structure comes from the specific arrangement of tiles found in its muse. Hey if it’s strong enough to house people, it’s certainly strong enough to sit on.

Joseph Joseph is renowned for coming up with the most stylish and useful kitchen tools, and the latest one in their collection is the Slice & Store Kitchen Cutting board and Knife. So is this a regular cutting board that comes in a choice of electric hues? No, the color choices are there but ain’t regular, it’s got this special niche on the side where you can tuck in the matching (high quality Japanese stainless steel) knife. Smart right?

For when you’ve got no boiling water sitting around, and no lightsaber on hand, you’ve got the “Hot-T Wand.” Yes! All of life’s greatest solutions ARE wand-based. You betcha! Faster than the ol’ HP can whip up a tea-time heat’em’up spell, you’ve got hot water. It heats only the amount of water you need, and it’s got mega-safety measures, like a water sensor to prevent foolish flailings about and whatnot.

Oh fabulous simplicity. Wherefor art thou, the truest form of it? Is it the newest bricks, or the never-made sculpturals without “beer compass” applications? Judge for me! This is a concept cell phone made by Tjep Design for the O2 company. It is based on the same concept as O2, the molecularity, that is. It’s a cell-cell. Get it? It’s only got a few functions, that being on and off, a telephone mode and a text mode. It’s got a number pad and even a * symbol. And a cute little tiny screen.

It is the familiar red and white stick, but with enhanced features that make it quite a practical solution for blind commuters. The Eye Stick is fitted with a sensor lens towards the bottom part, from where it picks up location bearings, like is the person nearing a staircase, or is he near the traffic lights. It then sends feedback to the blind commuter via vibrations, communicating the scenario, so that the person can be aware of his surroundings and take his next step with confidence.
