“What the Pho” (http://www.yankodesign.com/2009/07/28/what-the-pho/) was the first post I recall off the top of my head as a recent favorite. What a great concept! Combining aspects of Vietnamese culture into 1 delightfully packaged product.
Thanks so much for sharing!

- I hopefully am lucky because a friend told me about your site;
- Because I found you on Twitter and you have so wonderful posts!
But, ok, I’ll try to choose one; Here it goes:
- Tasty Seats!
- Decorating the roof – Superb!
Thank you,

One of my favorites would have to be “Bomberman Explodes Plants”.
It is a great concept that has been rehashed over the years. There must be some logistical/execution issues holding it back.
I like the feasability and that it could be implimented now. Unlike many of the other cool concepts that will likely never come to fruition.
Also, is there a way to “bookmark” our favorites?
I suppose you would need a user interface for that… It would be nice to be able to personally track concepts and ideas we like over the months/years.
Cheers.

The blowfly alarm clock!
I’m a boarder at my school, and the hardest part of the day is getting up and going down to breakfast. Usually with the snooze alarm so close to me, It’s oh so easy to just smack that button, for that extra bit of sleep, and then miss breakfast, and wake up with 5 mins till your first lesson!
This concept is just one we’d all really love to have in our bedrooms. Not only does it look like a whole load of fun, but it will get you up, and set you in a good mood, with a bit of banter from your flying friend! Although what would you do if it went out the window!
I can imagine some kind of abuse from people using tennis rackets and basball bats to shut it up though

I’m a big fan of the “Sweeping Trash” concept. I have a couple vacuums I use and they are stashed around the house. I always dread using the small canister vac because of the mess and dust that is released when the storage bin is separated from the body. I love this concept because it not only charges the vac, but it empties it and stores it right there – a real time and clutter saver.

Recycled Packaging Lights by Anke Weiss was personally my favorite article because after seeing the post I was inspired to make my own. After working on it for about 2 weeks I gave it to my girlfriend for our one year anniversary. After that I made about two more for myself. Of course none of the ones I made were as beautifully crafted as the ones in the post but regardless, I was proud of them.
In addition I have always been interested in finding use of trash or other items that most people would not give much attention to.

For me it’s this one : http://www.yankodesign.com/2008/02/25/your-spoon-is-doomed/
because it goes side by side with my “question everything” philosophy. The designer redesigned the cup and stroke its core. The cup and spoon has been around for soo long that it has become a standard, but we have evolved and so should are standards, we must rethink them. The designer of the cup gives us a ingenious but simple solution to a hustle of time wasting spoon coordination that we just don’t need in our ever more busy lives. Cheers, Teo.

I love this article because remembering what it was like first starting out, there wasn’t a lot of encouragement on ‘how to make it’ much less how to make the most of your talents and chosen profession.
“There is a clear difference with a designer that lives and breathes design vs. a designer that is “oh-hum” about design. Having Passion is not just about loving design, it is also about the dedication to get knee deep in it, and the will to be designing almost all the time. “

If I had to choose my favorite YD, it’d have to be The Prince of Mars. (http://www.yankodesign.com/2009/08/28/the-prince-of-mars/)
Why? Well, I love the fact that it seems outlandish, yet so very plausible. I know it was inspired by a boom by Asimov, but it reminds me even more of something one might see in Portal or Paranoia (P&P RPG) to be honest. Past that, it’s rather cute, and the idea of it collecting information and all converging at one point to plant and preserve their plants sounds amazing.

My favorite post is “A Playful Meeting Between Wall and Floor”, about the “Billy’s Brother” bookcase. It’s my favorite because I have been collecting books all my life, I moved from one home to another several times and I always had to carry boxes full of books. On top of that, I had to buy new bookcases each time I moved so the new ones would fit in my new home. The “Billy’s Brother” is much more beautiful than any bookcases I ever had and I think it would be a privilege to have my books put in that particular bookcase. As you can see, my books are very important to me (I’m a philology student).

top 5 reasons why:
1-I generally like CLEAN,EASILY-APPLICABLE industrial designs
2-I am fond of the FENG SHUI traditions that emphasize the necessity of clean,non-fussy look
3-it kinda reminds me of the AppleMac designs, white and simple
4-it seems really to work
5-I,frankly,want the book

my favorite is the window phone! http://www.yankodesign.com/2009/09/03/best-of-august-2009/ although, far fetched, it’s a great concept, something that will definitely be around in the future. My favorite function on it is blowing on it to enter handwriting mode! So creative. The imagery alone was enough to sell me. I loved it!

Sorry, I can’t choose one. You cannot tell me to choose one. YankoDesign is the best creative site ever. I just everyone to get each and every product and use it and make more of special things. It’s amazing.
I will choose one with a STONE ON MY HEART. Though I love braile phone, window phone, amazing light products, and a lot more.
But for me BLOB wins – this is by far my favorite post on YankoDesign and everything comes second.
Link: http://www.yankodesign.com/2009/07/30/embrace-your-heat/
Why it wins? 5 points:
1. It makes me feel good, like a child and when you get back from work and see this thing lying on the ground it would definitely make you feel happy
2. You can fiddle and play with your furniture like never before. Would’ve loved it even more if it were silly putty.
3. It’s like a pet in your home you can spend your life with. watching tv with your friend sitting on blob. imagine that.
4. Any family of any size 4 brothers and 4 sisters can sit on it at the sametime.
5. How LOVELY IT IS THAT YOU CAN CUDDLE YOUR furniture because it’s made for CUDDLING. Damn! it’s sweet.
Amazing work guys. Love your designs a lot.

This is my favorite post on Yanko Design for some reasons:
This is a prodcut that has a beautiful shape. The designers need to think in the manufacturing process of the product on an early stage, why? because in this way product could be tangible, not just a conceptual design. I think this is an example of that kinf of thinking, with a few materials and a simple manufacturing process, the designer achieved not only a beautiful product, but functional.

I love blob designed by Sang-Jang lee he is an awesome desinger but he has done more than design here. Enough said a watch, is a must.
http://www.yankodesign.com/2009/07/30/embrace-your-heat
Why I love it?
1. never before seen as always with YD furniture. That makes you feel Awesome – you start thinking about ideas to use it. Makes you Feels good.
2. cuddling in this fashion makes you unique and want more of these in different colors.
3. your whole family could sit down on this single blob.
4. it’s like a pet in your home but far more beautiful and useful.
5. what would it be like if something is made up of silly putty that doesn’t become hard but remains soft – it remind of you that
thanks for letting me answer my fav. YD Design. love it.

I find Yanko Design to be pretty inspiring as is, but couldn’t turn down the book sweepstakes.
My favorite post is titled “Lifesaving Design”, it’s about a heavily engineered water bottle.
It’s estimated that more than 4,000 kids die from waterborne illnesses every day, mostly infants. I applaud Michael Pritchard for his portable design and setting up what they call their “Humanitarian Relief Program”. I don’t know the discounts for those who qualify, but I hope they’re steep.
I like gadgets too, but designs like these will be the real device champions of the 21st century.
Juan Cristobal Lara says
For me, the best post from Yanko (among many other cool too), is Packin Potz. I think that one of the hardest things to design is something: sustainable, inexpensive, easy to assemble, in one word: GREEN.
Really helpful and conscientious with the world we live in, but without neglecting the productive aspect of an industrial design.

Yanko Design porvides a lot of fruitful designs and gives me a lot of design inspirations while looking at others’ design. I learnt a lot of things from this website and it make me feel that design is such interesting activities. It also helps me to be more passionate in my course of study “Industrial Design” and also to be more confidence in my own design … ..
