Holy bajeesus did you know that there’s legislation that will be in place by 2015 in the European Union that says 95% of any vehicle produced needs to be recyclable? It’s called the EU ELV (End of Life Vehicle). In reaction to this as well as the last census of whiplash victims (2007 at 430,000 in the UK along) – this headrest has been designed! It has been designed to save us all! It is made to automatically adjust to your head at the same time as it adjusts to the environment!

The Magic Stone Phone

What do you want? The perfect phone. How do you get it? Magic! It’s the “Magic Stone” telephone. It’s any shape you want it, it’s any color you want it. Within reason, cripes! You order the phone up, it’s sent you you in the mail, and wah-la! There you have it! Also it’s got not only a touch-screen, a holographic display, constant internet access, storage space, games, and it’s charged wirelessly or by sunlight, intercepted by it’s outer case. Enough?

Veteran at YD, designer Mac Funamizu has given us many techie ideas to dwell on in the past. This time around he’s come up with a non-techie solution for those who are fussy about the kinda pepper they use. There is a difference in the Black and White peppercorns, which is why this Black & White Peppermill. Color-coded as the namesake, just load the peppercorns into their respective compartments and use one hand to grind the seasoning over your food.

Self-Aware All-Sports Steady-Cam

Not quite on the level of chwarzenegger or Optimus Prime, but it’s getting there. The Chasercam intelligent sports-camera comes basically in two parts: the camera (with base), and the sensor target. When activated, the camera turns on it’s base and up and down, seeking in all directions the sensor target. What you do is stick one to the person doing the tricks, and one to the person who is chasing the person doing the tricks. Total coverage!

Safe Wrap

Unlike the Beagle scarf-hoodie, SQUEASE is a jacket kinda haven for folks with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Fashionable and with-it, the jacket allows the wearer to apply deep pressure to their body, so that they can calm themselves and get over the sudden rush of anxiety. The integrated headphones reduce the sound level of high frequency noises like alarm bells or the sound of chairs scraping on a floor; soothing those with hypersensitive hearing.

One Cannot Resist the Romantic Fruit Pianist

Oh the iPod DJ. Have you ever seen one? You know how… not awesome… it looks. But take a peek at this. This is the electronic piano – Apple stamped on it – that can display your music, turn your pages, and teach you to play! Those who’ve gotten especially good at turning the page while playing might be a little sad on this, but those are the same people that got mad when they found out CDs would make music a lot clearer than vinyl. (And noone’s got love for 8-tracks but Cheap Trick.)

San Francisco Facade

Pinch me I’m giddy. I love this new renovation in San Francisco b Natoma Architects. They’ve retained the unique look and feel only found in the city by the Bay but there are several modern touches that push this building into the future. The perforated metal facade is the most noticeable addition, providing shade and privacy. The interior is an minimal as it gets without going overtly stark.

Analyzing Movement

There aren’t any portable devices to analyze body movement. Most of them are giant lumbering machines that require whole rooms. A portable device opens doors to numerous commercial applications all thanks to the advent of small accelerometers. Imagine doctors like orthopedists getting valuable information about how you move to determine cause and treatment. One already exists thanks to designer Ricardo Sa Freire and he’s planning another for entertainment, training, and extreme sports. Endless possibilities.

What this particular interactive eye on the wall does is to connect the customer to the direct result of the business using environmentally sound solutions – in particular, solar energy.

Love Affair With London And Lego

Clearly the Volkswagen Conerto Concept Car is inspired by London’s rustic charm and the sustainability of Lego. While I won’t get into the personal journey of London retro-modern muse, I’ll explain to you how Lego is involved in the scenario. Take a piece of Lego block from any era, and you will see that it fits the current version like a glove. Using this idea as a base, the construction of the Conerto is such that it allows you to fit pieces of the car in a similar fashion.

Reflecting Ironing Board

Your ironing board need not be some magical piece of invention coz when you don’t use it you’re simply gonna stow it away in some crappy corner. Only if you were as smart as Therese! Adding a dash of functionality to the board, his idea is to transform it into a full-lenght mirror, when not in use. Super Intelligent I say! Lay it flat to iron your clothes; flip it vertical and its shiny mirror in the underbelly! I can see this going into production SOON.
