Be Flexible With Diabetes

Gluos is a non-invasive blood sugar meter with a detachable sensor for more flexibility. As a diabetic you really want to measure  fast, easy and unobstrusively. The small device measures sugar levels using a display with an LED scale between a low result and a high result in different colors. Low sugar levels are shown in red. A normal level appears in white white and a high level goes orange. It stores the result and transfers it via bluetooth to a mobile phone and computer so your doctor has instant access.

Girl buys new pack of fresh batteries. Girl doesn’t realize unused batteries lose their charge overtime albeit slowly but still, it’s like money slowly pissing away. If only there were a way to keep the internal charge from being active until you needed it. Girl figures it out. Put a switch on it. The science is simple. I mean you’re essentially just switching the anode off to prevent current from flowing but does this actually work? Energy doesn’t seem to be something that likes to stay put. Maybe one of you could speak to it, figuratively that is.

So you’ve got this table, right? It’s got several levels separated and maybe even held up by these thin steel bars. The bars are different wacky colors, and the table is titled “1915.” — Let’s crack this enigma! — First off, this project was made by industrial designer Teruhiro Yanagihara with design firm Isolation Unit. With a name and a company name like that, you know this project is gonna mean business…

Short Distance Solar Powered Rental Bikes

Just what the title says! It’s made for you to go to the station and pop in a little cash to take it for a spin! The carrying case in the middle comes standard, with folding out sides (but just a bit!) so you can fit your stuffs in there. Lithium-based accumulator batteries store energy which are charged by plugging in to a standard socket, the energy provided ideally 100% by a solar-panel laden station roof. Ride on!

It Plays Only My One Song

It Plays Only My One Song

On one hand we have MP3 devices by the score, boasting of infinite giga amount of memory and on the other hand we have The Single. A brave little soul that plays only ONE (uno) song! This feature may send you gadget-crazy generation into a tizzy, but I quite respect the designer’s decision to stick to one song format. Even the functioning is pretty simple, one giant play button that starts and pauses the song. Load the music via the USB and hang it up on the wall.

Apologies to Yiran and all those who play music, but many of us YD-ers may be ignorant on the nitty-gritty of music composition, play and practice. So before I launch into a full detailed explanation of the Lyra project, I must get some basics clear. Musicians often use a metronome to help them practice their sessions however this device does have its limitations. And apparently musicians also have heightened peripheral vision in comparison to us normal folks.

OMG, not another electrical gadget at home…where do I plug it…too many extension cords, wires, plugs, hassles! Does this thought often bog you down? It did bother designer Ashley too much, since she resides in a Victorian house where wiring and plugs haven’t been changed for more than 70 years! Instead of cribbing, she mulled and came up with the AllSocket Power Track and AllPlugs. Now she has the perfect solution for us…see her demo it for us after the break.

You know what I like? Things that can be made cheaply with just a little bit of space where the sponsor of the product can be printed or stuck. They’re perfect. They stay popular for a season or two, fade out, and meanwhile the designer has cashed in on a moment of brilliance. What we’ve got here is a bike clip for standard bottled drinks. It’s easy to clip on and off, simple to use in multiples. When used with booze, safety not guaranteed.

Bloody Eye and Ripped Ear!

Ever heard of Kutuzov or Van Gogh for that matter? Inspired by their escapades in history, designer Konovalov gives us this in-your-face Intercom, which has all the makings of a good practical joke. Kutuzov’s eye on the outside is a fully functional camera and Van Gogh’s ear in the inside is a speaker. What’s quirky is that if you don’t like the guests calling at your door (read ma-in-law), you can set the spooky eye to a red, bleeding torrent and freak them out. A green glowing eye means you’re happy to receive the intruder. Truly Whacko!

It’s the “FOODOO!” In Korea, food waste cannot be tossed out with the rest of the garbage. The food must be collected in a separate bag, kept together until garbage day when it’s handed to the garbage people. During this time it gets YUCKY. And you know what happens when things yet YUCKY: things also get real SMELLY. What Jeong Min Kim has here is a device that both heats and dries the food waste into a solid block. Don’t put your puppy in there!

Express Yourself Musically

Unless you play some instrument or do some sound mixing on your gadgets, there’s very little chance that you actually (like physically) get to express your music. The Physical Sequencer is a grid-based, human-scale interface that allows you to transform your movements and gestures into techno-trance sounds. It’s better than sitting and reading that paper mister! It features 56 proximity sensors arranged in a 7×8 grid that convert the gestures into music via a software.
