Stool, Bookshelf, Table

Stool, Bookshelf, Table

Park your butt on it or stow some books; you got to hand it to these wonderful designers for addressing many issues at one go. For example, if you have space crunch, then this impromptu bookshelf stool is handy. Notice how the deep U-s hold thick fat books comfortably! You like modular, multifunctional stuff; check the box! Using bending technique for molding the 8 layers of industrial gray felt (stuck with epoxy resin) and 2 layers of veneer, this piece could add a third dimension to it….use it as a table!

The Simplest Hammer Clock

The Simplest Hammer Clock

The simplest lockdown. The perfect form. What kind of minimalism are you into? I’m listening to one of the music mixtapes released in honor of Michael Jackson: this one has a vocals-only track of “Rock with You.” Perfect, wonderful, simple. In the clock you see here, we’ve got a companion in time. The colored circle, the giant nail marking the 12 and holding the clock to the wall, and the two hands of father time. Ow!

Retro Pipes For The Kitchen Sink

Retro Pipes For The Kitchen Sink

Reminding us of the 1930s’ Industrial American Era is the latest collection of Steam Valve Faucets from Jaclo. The retro steamline style is quite evident in the line-up and I quite like it! The collection includes Faucets, Spouts, and Pot Fillers. The most interesting one of course is the Pull-off Spray that unwinds from the bridge mixer (both wall and deck mounted) to be used as a handy hose. The green brigade will love the fact that this collection complies with WaterSense criteria.

Car of Magnetic Proportions

Car of Magnetic Proportions

You’ve got the need for the speed in the streets. You’ve got to go faster than your crappy metal-on-metal jalopy can take you. Faster, harder, stronger! Check out the Nissan-Motivity 400C concept by Tryi Yeh. The 400C has the Maglev engine system in each tire, making it quite floaty and speedy. The 400C has a wild, new triangle shape that reduces drag, while the driver seat controls retain their classic build (although, as you’ll see, you still might have a time getting used to the seat!)

Shovel, Rake Or Blow; Take Your Pick

Shovel, Rake Or Blow; Take Your Pick

The “Silver Generation” as referred to by designer Theresa is an ageing, independent lot who rely on simple technology to help them perform their daily chores. Stuff like mowing the lawn, shoveling the driveway or raking the leaves was once done by their children for allowances, is now to be done by them. BUD – E is meant to help this generation (who is most often bogged with some age-related medical issue) do such outdoor tasks with ease and independence. The biggest USP…a single machine performs all the aforementioned tasks.
