i’d like to have some support for the sliding counter tops in case if there is too much weight on it or something (groceries, someone leaning, etc). maybe have a reclining stand that folds out?

This fault can be resolved by making the entire surface hinged along the back edge (on the edge facing the guests) This way the entire under side can be fully cleaned.

the underside of the worksurfaces will become riddled with bacteria. Granite is horrible for this as it is naturally pourus. After a few months the whole unit will stink.

Perhaps add a locking mechanism to the slide feature incase the owners have kids where one might open it while another is running by…

Also where the two sliding tops meet have about a inch thick border (on both edges) be of foam/air bladder to avoid the pain of accidental finger pinching/crushing.
