Surely you caffeine addicts will agree, coffee truly is the sexually oriented drink – It picks you up! It illuminates your world, if I may say so. Designer / Bookmark Maker Wonsik Chae takes this concept to an elegant level by making the drop-in tea bag light up your environment chemically. For those whose eyes are sensitive to brightness in the mornings, I recommend a different cup. For those who love lamp(s), drop it!

The weirdest of things can inspire designers and this one really takes the cake. Either Juyoung Kim really loves his drink too much or he is simply trying to impress us with his imagination. Whiskey, yes whissskeyyy, the malt that makes men go woozy in the head when they tank up too much, is the inspiration behind the Whiskey Cyon Phone. Low on tech-specs (fully touchscreen, 8-mp cam) but high on looks, the device is almost like a chameleon!

When a naked Archimedes ran down the streets of Syracuse screaming, “Eureka! Eureka!”; people thought he had become loony. Later on they realized that the genius had just hit upon the Buoyancy Theory when he jumped into his bathtub. Similar to this story is the silver T-Man Tea Strainer. The only twist to this tale is that if T-Man jumps out of your steeping cup of tea, YOU RUN down the streets screaming, “GHOST! GHOST!”

Robert Brunner of Ammunition Group steps up with a mince-no-words collection of kitchen hoods. You know the kind: big, ugly, yellow. Or at least they’re that way if you’re living in a house whose kitchen hasn’t been updated in the past 10 years. Get minimal! Get something from the “Arc Collection.” The colors and designs range seven main categories, but they’re all 36 inches wide, suck smoke, and shine light.

Did you see all the cool stuff Google has installed in its office for the benefit of its employees? I’m sure most of us don’t even get a fraction of what those guys have. Without being envious, I think its time we spoke to our bosses and at least got some funky looking gadgets on our desks! Like this Conference System that looks like an odd UFO or something. I’m sure if we look into its specs, we’ll find something to rave about it to THE BOSS.

I bet my wrist is jealous. It hasn’t seen an accessory adorn its graceful neck in years thanks to the advent of mobile phones. Tho there have been several attempts by designers and companies to integrate the two, they’ve never been successful. The On Time Headset System seems to be a much better marriage between them and one I could see myself using.

Lotus is a wireless cooking system that offers an elegant alternative to the conventional static hob. Each piece is specifically designed for various cooking styles and meal types. There is a tepan yaki plate, a wok hob (the bowl like piece), a grill plate and induction plates. The pieces are powered using resonant induction. There are transmission coils hidden beneath the counter top and receiving coils in each of the pieces. Power can be transferred to one or all of the pieces at any one time.

Airlines really know how to ruin your vacations and I’m not just talking about flight delays. On my last trip Down Under they managed to screw up not one, but two of my luggage pieces. Thankfully they DID replace both of them, but to be fair for some part my suitcases were to be blamed as well. They were definitely not as sturdy as this Alliance Modular luggage that we see here.

I don’t know if you fellow YD’ers are aware of the fact that my co-writer Long Tran is rumored to be an awesome cook. Rumored I say, coz I haven’t sampled his cooking yet! Anyways, the point here is that I would like to see how LT (that’s what I call him) tackles a Guacamole dip. Traditionally people like to use molcajete and tejolote (mortar and pestle) but if I give him this electric Elahuaca Guacamole Mixer, will it make any difference to his recipe?

From the expansive designer mind of Meryem Ozturkoglu comes this structure which will one day sit on the SE side (NY side) of the Hudson River, and will also stand as base for a giant walkbridge that connects Central Park and Hudson Park. This design, dubbed CITY-PARK, aims to create a pattern of parks in the city, as visible and as essential to the identity of the city as its skyline of business-oriented towers.

Because poor people will be throwing their milkshakes at you when you drive this bad mother down the street. It’s called the “Lamborghini Insecta Concept,” and it’s got no real defense against strawberry or vanilla flavoring. The coloring has some sort of nice relationship with mint though, don’t you think? It’s length is the same as a Lamborghini Gallardo, it’s 1k mm tall and 2k mm wide, and it’s got a 2,650 mm wheelbase. Made for super fast power creepin’.

Coz you are a plant, and we don’t live in futuristic times where plants can talk…HOW? Ah…now I get it, you’re housed in that MonPot thingie that has a reminder of sorts. How forgetful of me!

3Dconnexion is synonymous with tools designed for 3D graphics so I thought a review on their IF DESIGN awarding winning SpaceExplorer was in order. When I started learning 3D graphics (not going to mention how many moons ago that was) 3-button mice were mandatory unless you were proficient with numerous keyboard commands and shortcuts. Designed to make life easier and more efficient, does the SpaceExplorer deliver on its promises?
