It&#039;s not wifi: it uses WiTricity to power the tiles and transmit informations, regarding position on the surface, amount of heat etc.
Tiles can&#039;t be operated independently from the dedicated surface.
In order to doing such a thing it would require battery and control interface on every single tile, adding complexity, size and weight.
