its not a new idea mikhail, for clothing yes sorta but its been used in pacakaging for quite a while. It is highly material dependent, it demands a rigid material with a high modulus. Your use of it in garments is innovative from a fashion standpoint but not from a utilitaian perspective.

as you see there are a prototype.

but the using of real buttonfly firmly depends on material.
anoter shape and materials makes strong connection, that allows to use in indystrial packing and for army puroses

oh yeah, i would totally love to spend 5-10 minutes zipping up my sweater.

what i think is that they just need to improve the zipper now. create some mechanism that doesn’t jam whenever a thread gets lodged into the weaving.

Nice idea, and it looks good. But I’ll be afraid to wear something closed by this system, and see it open by itself suddently (However, it may be stronger than it looks in the photos)
