Lately Monsieur Starck has been taking a well deserved bitch slapping by us fun loving bloggers for his proclamation that “design is dead”. He quickly contradicted that notion with his recent announcement that he is launching a new reality TV series for the BBC all about the design process. Well P. Starcky you may have redeemed yourself just a bit with your latest “dead design” called ‘Democratic Ecology’.

Designer Jason Kline discovered people don’t use most of the buttons on today’s TV remotes. The complex array of function only confuses some and alienates others. Most people also only watch 12 different channels so why are we still using these ever elongating sticks? Kline suggests another way called the Licentia.

Hey, Let me just say I give props to anyone out there thinking green and trying to make the world a better place through design. That being said, mad props to designer Shiu Yuk Yuen. She is out there fighting the good fight, and her latest design inspiration may be a bit of a mis-fire(in my opinion), but still deserves to be dissected, praised or criticized with the best of them.

The last ten years has seen the resurrection of legendary auto brands like the Maybach, Bugatti, Healey, Mini and recently announced Alpine car brand. Tatra Motors, the third oldest car company on the planet behind Daimler Mercedes-Benz and Peugeot was the inspiration for this new concept design by Czech magazine AutoDesign&Styling. They asked designer Mike Jelinek to create this concept vision of the Tatra of the future.

I just love ideas that come from outside “influences”, like “oh man, I may be totally blitz right now but we should totally head to Vegas tonight!” or “If I had money, I would totally open my own bar…but a cool bar, with every kind of beer from around the world…and every kind of nachos from around the world too…” Well dear friends, thank god most of us usually pass out before such genius ideas ever come to fruition.

Check out the latest in getting your groove on like a tyke, this ‘AMK’ is a modular sound toy specially designed for preschool children. Kiddies can independently play and combine sounds through plugging these uniquely programmed music blocks.

I had a few too many glasses of Pinot Gris just the other evening and I swear to Bartles & Jaymes that I envisioned a wine bar that looked similar to this new interior design for “Bella Italia Weine” shop and restaurant located in Stuttgart, Germany, home of Mercedes-Benz and Porsche.
