Ideas similar to this have been used in children’s and primary school libraries for years, and the color-coding systems I’m familar with don’t actually cover as much of the spine as this concept does.

“without covering the spine of the book”

it is pretty clear in the pictures that 1/3 t0 1/2 of the books’ spines are covered. This makes reading the titles pretty difficult, consequently allowing a quick scan of the shelves for interesting books to be pretty hard as well.

i love the idea of color coding. my dad uses it in his children’s libraries. it makes it easy for the people to put books back on their shelves as well.
