Etihad Airways (UAE national airline) has an almost identical ‘pod’.

The Etihad one is smaller, as the bed continues under the table, lessening the space taken by about a foot.

It also has a side compartment for hand luggage, which i cant see here.
I love the idea of the side table in the JAL one, but I think the TV is too far away

Having a smaller compartment gives you a closer TV (debatable if that is good or bad on a 17 hour flight).

I think all airlines are coming up with these kind of things, with a few modifications. Whoever came up with the base idea though, is the one to be congratulated.

Finally something that will make flying enjoyable! Wait…. how much are the tickets? Something tells me it will always be coach for me!

I don’t think those who are claustrophobic will have much difficulty with this style of travel. Yes they are confined, but they aren’t enclosed. That’s what usually causes a person to be claustrophobic.

Good idea, especially it comes with a bed. But I don’t think it’s good for those whom narrow space phobia.
