A Chair For All Occassions
The Hybrid chair may be used as a dining chair, a stool, an ottoman or lined up together – a bench. It consists of 2 components, a base and a back, plus some supplied stainless steel hardware items. With the back in place, you’ve got yourself a dining chair. Removing it produces a stool or an ottoman. Multiple ottomans can be linked together to form a bench of any desired length.
The design of the piece was arrived at by experimenting with the simplest of forms, the bent “U” shape base was inspired by a marine shackle proving to be simple yet incredibly strong and stable. Like the base of the chair, the back is simple and minimal in form. The geometry of the 2 components is almost childlike and quite playful in its simplicity, whilst displaying a humorous personality.

oooh. a removable back. How clever.

This is a somewhat clever idea but it suffers from being truly hideous. From a design standpoint every element seems at odds with the others. Was the vinyl seat covering hijacked from an 80’s Holiday Inn? Whoville called and they want their chairs back.
