I'd like to point out that just like Dirk Van Braeckel & Frederik Daems at Bentley(Continental GT Coupé)/Luc Donckerwolke at Lamborghini (Murcielago, Gallardo)& Seat/Steven Crijns at Lotus/Luc Landuyt at Renault and Pierre Leclercq at BMW (X6), Lowie Vermeersch is Belgian, not Dutch.

Indeed Italians are damn good in designing beautiful objects, however with the input of some very good international designers, one of which is Lowie Vermeersch. The grill looks like the dark sun glasses of a pilot, or some Darth Vader look alike.
The door is borrowed from the Lamborghini, which embeds the classy playboy image.
The shape is aerodynamic, yet it is a sedan. I don't know how the rear door opens(suicide?)
Nice to look at, fun to drive, good for concept. But I won't buy it.

We like cars that looks like us, or looks like the way we wish to look like.

The grill looks like the dark sun glasses of a pilot, or some Darth Vader look alike.

The door is borrowed from the Lamborghini, which embeds the classy playboy image.

The shape is aerodynamic, yet it is a sedan. Joke aside, there is a strong tradition in holding aesthetics in very high regard.
What I admire in Pininfarina is the balance they maintain between generating new designs and maintaining their "traditional futurism", if you see what I mean. You are never surprised to hear that some new design is by Pininfarina; you can see the family resemblance, and just go "oh, but of course". And yet, you do admire them for their novelty and elegance.
Calling it Italian is a bit of a shortcut, though. The head designer Lowie Vermeersch is Dutch (I think) and the team is very international. I think that is also one of their strengths.
And, if isn't totally clear by now, I love this design as well. :-)

To stereotype, Italians are damn good at anything that is beautiful: art, music, food, fashion, women… <img
