Concrete Jungle Love
New York City, the birth place of gigantic phallic concrete towers, is one the few cities in the US that has managed to move away from its puritanical origins and step responsibly into the 21st century. Sure, it is still difficult to get a decent lap dance in Manhattan, but at least the city has your back(and front) when it comes to practicing safe sex. The city’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene unveiled its 2008 safer sex awareness campaign, which includes a variety of mass media drops and the distribution of at least 200 free condom dispensers in TriBorough area. Design agency FUSEPROJECT was responsible for bringing to market this dispenser and wrapper design that can “help bring condoms out of the closet,” said Yves Behar, founder of the San Francisco-based design agency. “The brand’s friendly design and the dispenser’s approachable shape convey openness and acceptance. They say condoms are nothing to be embarrassed about.”
