Birch-wood Coffee Set

Birch-wood Coffee Set

Andrea Branzi’s silver and birch-wood coffee set was our favourite thing at Design Art London, which took place last month. It isn’t new, but we’ve only just laid our hands on some pictures to show you. Instead of polishing the silver, Branzi dipped it in acid, giving the already thin material an incredibly delicate aesthetic.

Flameless Rechargeable USB Lighter

Flameless Rechargeable USB Lighter

In lieu of lighter fluid and a flint, this lighter uses resistance coils to create heat. It’s the same technology found in car lighters. The small rechargeable battery cell powering the coil can be recharged via USB. On top of that, there’s some flash memory in there to store files. Damn, might as well give it a couple swiss blades and a nose hair trimmer to complete the package. And Kool? Doesn’t anyone still smoke that?

Plushy Mouse

Plushy Mouse

This wireless mouse is made from natural wool felt and laminated bamboo ply. The felt’s softness and plyability makes the mouse comfortable without looking “cartoonishly” ergonomic. The button layout follows the golden rectangle.

Super Inline Skates

Super Inline Skates

Inline skating has its merits as a true competitive sport but what’s the next step? What’s the next level? Designer Tay Kian Khuan believes it’s his 720 Skates. Designed for pro competitions, they may look like any other inline skates but the wheels are set on independently rotating gears instead of an inline track.

Don't Intrude On My Personal Zone

Don’t Intrude On My Personal Zone

We all have it, what people call the “personal space” or “zone” – the area around us that if impeded on makes us uncomfortable. The Eclipse Office Partitioning System was developed to address the issue of privacy and lack there-of in open plan designs seen in workplaces today.
