Bucky Sustainable Lighting

Bucky’s objective was to construct a sustainable household item from found materials. The cages are constructed of 102 tubes that formerly housed 102 glow sticks, nearly 100 wire hangers, telephone wire and electrical tape. The lighting is compromised of approx 30′ of lamp wire and standard light fixtures.

Bucky can be arranged in a number of ways, hung in a line, on the ceiling, mounted to a wall, draped over the floor, or all of the above. When lit, Bucky emits a deep contrast of light and dark, playing with light amidst its shadows, strong lines and negative space.

Bucky gets its name from the master of the geodesic dome from whom its cages received inspiration, Buckminster Fuller.
