Commercially something like this could be great – hotels and commercial kitchens could toast their logos or good morning messages on the bread.

Who cares if it gets covered in jams and spreads – the amusement would be a talking point and talk is promotion. Plus its an unexpected surprise so i see the value in it. But i guess I’m creative. And who wants a freakin’ real post-it-note stuck to their bread.

As for it’s functional application in its current state, I think I would need to undergo some modifications to make production worthwhile. Functional modifications for EG: Ability to invert the design so it toasts where you haven’t written as an option. Ability to toast multiple pieces at a time.

Edible pens and markers are useless if you have to replicate the same design. Similar things already exist at specialty cake shops. Noone is goin to write on the rough surface of toast with something like an edible substance, unless its the chosen spread.
