VaseMaker by Ron Gilad

VaseMaker dissects the classic vase into its two functional elements; support for the flower and a container for the water that sustains it. VaseMaker is designed and redesigned each time it is placed upon a vessel. A dialog is created between the iconic shape of the VaseMaker and the form of any ready-made vessel that is placed underneath it. The ready-made may have a history of its own, but once it is used in conjunction with the VaseMaker – it enters a symbiotic relationship. Alone, the VaseMaker is semi-functional, part of a new species of objects that have but half a function.
